A Fireman has launched a new idea in the UK for enabling Emergency Services to contact your family should anything happen to you.

Make an entry in your mobile phone address book like the example below

ICE - John
01234 567890

The ICE stands for In Case of Emergency and will make it much easier for them to decide who to call rather than scrolling through your entire address book and picking at random from it. It's important for them to have the name as well and if you can fit it in, how they are connected with you eg brother/wife etc.

I thought this was a great idea so I thought i'd mention it in case you haven't heard about it yet.

 just for a moment I thought you meant actually make that entry....I was wondering hoe John would help contact people and why he had such an easy to remember phone number

I read about this a couple of days ago, is this the ICE campaign that Simon Weston helped to start, i think its a brilliant idea.

Thanks for this, Rain!
I hadn't heard about it yet, but it's worth doing. Think it's a pretty good idea myself.

If you could email everyone in your address book with the information it would really help getting the idea out to as many people as possible. If everyone passes it on and then asks those people to spread it further then it should get round a lot of people in a short time.

It's funny how simple ideas like this come up and make you wonder why no one has ever thought to do it before
