Since I was a child, I have gotten visions of the future, visits from 'spirits', and have had premonitions. I really don't know what to make of it. And I wonder half the time if I should be on medication. But I can't deny how often I feel like saying, Hey! Something told me that this would happen! And occassionaly, I suffer sleep paralysis where I am awake...but unable to move, AND quite frequently, I have a feeling of my energy being drained out of me and something foreign trying to take over me. Sometimes I can't even breath or scream as whatever it is chokes me or is on top of me. It feels like it's trying to take my soul. I've had glimpses of people who aren't there and what I fully believe are dead souls looking for answers. I can see them...but I can't hear them. I've read newspaper articles and could almost SEE just what exactly 'happened.' I've even had some Out of Body experiences. Recently, I was taking a nap with my child and felt the paralysis come over me. I can usually discern whether it's a malcious attack (most of the time) or not. This time, it was my child. I 'literally' saw her 'soul' shoot out of third eye and float over me. She sat on my chest WHILE her physical body was still lying next to me. She went behind my head and I could feel her cover my eyes and 'hear' her giggle out. And then she flew back into herself at which point I began to shake myself out of my paralysis.
I know I sound crazy. I really want to see someone whether it be for mental health or an 'Elder' to teach me how to use 'my gift' if that's what it actually is.

So not crazy!! :huddle:I am actually extremely thankful I saw this. I have had the same things (sleep paralysis, and night terrors) happen throughout my life. Recently through a reading done for me, I discovered that, no not crazy, but extremely open to suggestions from the inner mind, as well as spiritual realm. I have found that sleeping with a very small geode (amethyst) under my pillow, I still have occasionally prophetic dreams, but no more paralysis.....try it! _wiz_

Just wondering if you were ever diagnosed with Asthma or a Sleep Apnea?
The reason I am asking is because there are physical ailments that can cause oxygen deprivation in which you can have a hallucination.
A gift, in your case, would not be my first choice. Reason being, it is usually something directed at you to harm you and render you helpless. Others, or yourself may disagree, and thats OK, to each his own, but I would go get a physical checkup and tell your doctor that you cannot breathe and become paralyzed at times.
If you suffer from a form of Sleep Apnea, it would need to be addressed and corrected by a doctor.
Sleep Disorders are not uncommon. Better to be on the safe side physically first, then deal with the rest later.
Brightest Blessings,

I have looked into Sleep Apnea AND am seeing a well respected psychologist as well. I'm actually being referred to an 'energy' aura person. As for Asthma. Yes, I have do have it. But this DEFINITELY IS NOT ASTHMA.
Thanks for your opinion anyway!

MM ~ The sensation of being suffocated or having someone sitting on your chest is known as "hagging", because many people have reported visions of an evil old crone doing it. There are two ways of looking at it: The common view is that it is an evil spirit. But have you ever read Sylvia Browne's books or seen her appearances on Montel? She says that this can happen when we re-enter our bodies. We wake up still partially "out" and can't move, it can be very disconcerting! She advises praying each night for a smooth transition back into the body.
I'm not going to mislead you and pretend to be an Elder, I'm just someone like you who has had some strange experiences. But I would suggest a two-pronged approach:
1) Ward your bedroom, use protective magics around the bed. Raven Grimassi gives some excellent warding techniques in The Witches' Craft. He's in our Author's Circle here, if you have any questions. AND, he's an Elder.
2)Take Sylvia's advice - remember to ask each night for a smooth transition.

I wouldnt worry for the child... Maybe you have a little bit of post childbirth depression.
So you have "seen" the child doing this beacause you feel the weight of a new responsability, it can happend, i myself had a problem of this sort when i went to live with my now ex-bf, i would have a suffocating feeling beacause i was afraid of responsability or else.
You may even have a gift, i believe in gifts, but i believe in seeing a doctor when we feel uncomfortable with something, so see a doctor first, then explore your gift after :-)
At least this is my opinion.
I am sure you will take the best of it all out, of both gift and human possible fears, its all normal, dont worry :-)

well, this is definitely not depression. and my doctor doesn't think anything is wrong with me. she believes me. But she doesn't think it's a gift. She thinks what I have is an EXTRA sense. I guess you could say...a 6th Sense (like the movie) . She suggested I go to the Parapsychology Institute in my town or get in contact with a Spiritualist to either cultivate this sense or put it to rest.
so there you have it. Not a gift...but something special.

Hi Kiani--
What you're describing sounds very much like a sleep disorder I've had since I was a child. (Not the precognition, but the weird sleep stuff.) It's called Awareness during Sleep Paralysis, or ASP, and it happens when our brains go into an REM state while we're still partially awake, usually when we're just about to drift off or just waking up. This state can trigger auditory, visual or tactile hallucinations, which I don't have to tell you can be very disturbing and scary!
Most people experience some sort of malevolent presence in their rooms, sometimes actually touching them or crushing them as you described. In my own case, I have a strong sense that there are demons in my room, just out of my eyesight, which is really interesting because I don't even believe in demons! I can't really see them but I can hear them, gibbering and cackling in some strange language. Several times I've gotten the sense that they're pulling my covers off me. Twice I felt like I left my body.
I thought I was absolutely nuts--and never told a soul--until a few years ago when I found somebody online describing the exact same experience, right down to the whispering demons. I started reading more. The thing that amazed me the most was that almost everyone with this condition, from all over the world, from all walks of life, experienced the sense of an evil presence in their room. How could that be??
I did some research and finally learned that there wasn't anything supernatural going on, just my endlessly fascinating brain playing tricks on me. Researchers have pinpointed the area of the brain which is affected by this problem, and it's an area which is associated with perceiving threat and danger. That's why so many otherwise healthy and adjusted people experience some pretty nutty-sounding things. And, I know, it seems so real! But it's all hallucinatory. After all, when I wake up, my covers are still on. If they were really pulled off by demons they'd be in a heap on the floor, right?
I used to think that at least my out-of-body experiences were real. I reasoned that it's very possible I could have left my body out of sheer terror. But I've come to believe that they were hallucinatory, too. (Although do a quick Google search and you'll find plenty of people who are convinced it's all real, but that's really flying in the face of the evidence.)
The good news, I've beat them and you can too. I used to just desperately try to break out of it (which I imagine you've done, too) by just trying to move anything, even a pinkie finger. That usually worked, but didn't stop it from happening again. Then one night, once again in the grip of an episode, I didn't get scared, I got mad, LOL!
This was at a time when I was a Christian, and what I did was ask Jesus to fill me with a powerful white light. This would work with any deity, IMO, the important thing is the visualization and the belief that it will work. Almost immediately I could see the whole room fill with a light that was emanating from me. As it got stronger and brighter, my fear was replaced by an incredible feeling of peace and power. I could feel the demons slinking away in defeat.
That was more than five years ago, and I'm in my longest period ever with no episodes. There was one time I thought I felt one coming on, but I immediately fired up the "light" and thought, "Don't even THINK about it, you bastards!" LOL. It worked.

Well, as a child, I had many similiar experiences. I often see things that will happen years before they do. As for out-of-body experiences, definately as a child, and some in the last year. I did not have any during the time I tried Chrisitiainty. I have to say, that was the darkest ten years of my life, and when I was in the most danger from men who enjoyed power over women. I am free od that now. I never felt fear from the spirit world, only comfort. I remember my grandmother domeing to me after she died, the warpth and peace she gave me were tremendous. I hope to learn more here. I wish you peace.

Merry Meet Kiani,
I read your posts and I thought back to when I used to wake up with horrible feelings, and just know there is something in the room with me that was "bad turned" or out to hurt me in some way. When it comes to sleeping medication, you would have to check with your doctor on that...but I personally - would avoid sleeping medications at ALL costs. Most medications infact, can be substituted with herbs - natural cures are a uprising on the market- and of course the major pharmecutical companies are not liking it (loss of money!). Try drinking you some tea made with chamomile...that usually puts people right to sleep! Also, I suggest this alot when it comes to "mean, or bad turned spirits" entering your house. Burn some sage just before you go to bed, while stating aloud that you do not want any visitors, and state aloud that you are no longer afraid of them. A lot of times, with spirits you need to let them know they are unwanted...for sometimes they do not know on their own. Anyhow, let me know how this goes. ALSO you did say you had asthma, you may want to open a door or window whenever you burn the sage (however I have asthma as well and it never affects me, but everyone is different.) Well, let me know how it goes!
Hope this helps!

I do appreciate what everyone has to say on this subject. But I must reiterate...I HAVE READ AND RESEARCHED THIS SLEEP PROBLEM I HAVE (also known as ASP) and although the information seems plausible, in my heart and soul I DO NOT believe it. The feelings I have, the things I see (even when not during paralysis) are too strong for me to ignore. Since posting this message, I have gone to the book store and invested in some spiritual books and guidance to the psychic pathway.
Now something strange has come over me.
Not only am I seeing and feeling a presence about me, but SEVERAL! It seems like whatever is there is walking around me ALL THE TIME. And it's not the same ones...it's always different. I just saw the 'energy radiating' from a presence in my hallway as I type this now. And all I'm thinking is, "Please...I am not in the mood." And it's not threat or evil I'm sensing anymore. It's just the feeling that "I'm not alone."
As of this week, I've been a little frightened to sleep. Not because I fear the presence of others about me...but because I don't have a clue why I can suddenly feel and see soooo many of them.
I still wonder if I'm crazy.

I just picked up Sylvia Browne's newest book: Everything Paranormal and I found a better explanation for what I labeled as "Sleep Paralysis." Sylvia calls it Astral Catalepsy.
Astral Catalepsy – The vast majority of people have no idea that while they sleep, their souls freely leave their bodies to visit wherever and whomever they choose. It is as natural as breathing because our souls are very confined (unnaturally) to the body and they often need a vacation of sorts, which happens several times a week. But if the soul can leave the body, it must get back into the body as well. Most of the time we don't feel a thing and we awake none the wiser to our little outing but sometimes we awake before our body is filled with the soul again. When this happens, our body panics and we experience feelings of paralysis, inability to speak or sometimes breathe, feelings of an "evil spirit" sitting on our chests, causing all this panic. It is nothing evil, I assure you. It is simply your soul trying to get back in your body but you happened to awaken before the process was complete. The best thing to do in these situations is relax and ask God to guide your soul safely back into your body. As soon as that happens, you will feel whole again.
This is not Sylvia's definition but one I found when I googled it. I sort of find this information helpful...but not enough. Actually, it makes me want to experience this thing again, trust it, and go with it just to see what happens. According to Sylvia, nothing bad will happen. I interpret this to mean that I should explore it a bit and maybe get to experience something very cool like traveling to another plane or another part of the world. It might be neat!
