I am bi-polar. While manic at one point, I had all kinds of hallucinations - not all of them pretty, by any means! However: One of my most intense visions was that of UNICORNS - all different sizes & types. I seem to be being haunted by more or less the thought of them right now, the irresistable idea that they are around me even though I don't see them; they are impossibly beautiful, they glow like patches of mist in sunlight!

Has anyone else ever had a really good look at a unicorn? Or anything else, for that matter... Mainly unicorns, though!

Alo love. :)

(I'm bipolar too, actually.)

That's really interesting - was that the only instance in which you got a pretty close look at them?

I've not had any vivid sort of experiences like that, but I do recall seeing them.

do you think that these visions were 'real' or just hallucinations brought about by your manic state?

IIRC, unicorns originate a few hundred years ago when people first began hearing about animals from starnge lands and first encountered rhinos

Actually there are references to unicorns in the Bible I am not sure of the scriptures but im sure in the philosophy boards they can quote them. So you see they are much older than a few hundred years.

I don't know about the finer points but... COOL! I always used to love unicorns, still do! :) Granted, not as much now as then, but... you know!

I've only seen -one- in my dream.. It was impossibly huge, as tall as our (then) house and really wide with a strong breast.

Since I was little I've loved them and when I moved to the mountains I acutally looked for them in the woods.. Lol. I don't know why I liked them so much, but I still have statues and posters everywhere.
