on a related note, did anyone see 'enterprise' last wednesday, when the enterprise explores the surface of a huge comet? it was a pretty neat episode, they try to mine it but the explosives change its rotational pattern and the crew almost gets vaporized when the comet turns towards a star!

that was an interesting artical, never thought about comets or asteroids hiting the sun, prety cool if you ask me. :D

Anything of decent size will have a strong gravitational field... and pull all sorts of crap into it! Just look up at the moon if you don't believe me, it's pockmarked with craters and it's only got 1/6 of the Earth's mass.
