Tom Bombadil

*stumbles in, carrying a few bottles of wine tucked in a wicker basket*
Thought I'd bring a board-warming gift...*hic*...whadda we got here? Toasted Head merlot, year 2002? I hope it's good. Maybe I oughtn't bring strange wine to new friends! *hic* Someone pass me a bottle opener and we'll give'r a shot. *hic*
(pours a few glasses for whomever may desire one)
Let's see...first off I should state Tom Bombadil here is a female, believe it or not. So maybe Tolkien never meant for that to happen, but he's far too amazing a character and role model to let something like gender get in the way. (*hic*) I'd say that's my biggest goal in life, to be master of myself. I suppose that might be as "Wiccan" as I get, with the "know thyself" part of the rede and all. I'm just not much for the ceremony, ya see, so I keep the labels to "pagan". Magic, psychology and real life all come together in realizing that goal...plus a liberal dose of the great outdoors, without which I would surely lose my mind....and!!, my hiking gear is the same color as Tom's clothes! My rain and winter jackets are both blue, and my boots are yellow! Coincidence? Not if you read Freud....
You're probably all wondering what my path is...hm...not being raised anything in particular (not even Christian, heh, I had to tell my mother to take me to church just to find out what it was all about...eh...obviously I didn't care too much for it...I tried though, really...) I'm a bit Norse in lifestyle but particularly ethics (honor, courage, care/respect of the aged) though maybe not so much on the religious/deity aspect; mostly folk magick in working (a mix of bindrunes, hooodoo/voudun ancestor veneration and what I call "home magick", aka "kitchen witch and rooms/garden beyond", pennsylvannia deutch, old school Ozark magick *ahem make that superstition* I learned from Gramps and friends in my childhood and working on my pawnee heritige/local Kansan spirits mgaick).
(takes a taste of the wine) Sorry folks, it's good table wine but I can't say it has any superlative characteristics...not like the St. Michelle wine my husband bought me for my birthday, with it's sublimley different, suprising...almost aggressive aftertaste...yet not worth so little as to turn one's nose up at, not at all...definitely get'cha where ya want'a be....*smirks, and pours a few more rounds for the latecomers*I think I might have some sweet Rocky Mountain mead left, if you're of the inclination....
