I want to go to Pittsburgh sometime soon. I need to 1)figure out to make it work and 2)figure out how to get there.

I'm seeing a bunch of old friends, including my ex from when I was 14. It will be my first solo vacation on my own funds, too.:fpartyfav

What about Greyhound? There the only bus line in Canada that isn't charter (as far as I know), so they're the only one I know. :)

They have a website.... http://www.greyhound.com (http://www.greyhound.com)

Ah ah ah! Alert Alert! Danger Will Robinson!

I just traveled the heck out of Greyhound. From Calgary to here, from here to NY and then from NY to here... Oh, and then fron here to the Canadian border and back. (Here is Colorado Springs, CO)

PLEASE HEED THIS WARNING! NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY, CLAIM YOUR BAG AT THE SIDE OF THE BUS WHENEVER YOU CHANGE BUSSES. THEY WILL NOT CHECK IT FOR YOU!!!

YES! No matter what they say! Even if they say not to worry about it, or that it'll be fine. THEY LIE! I've already lost one bag to that!

Other than that, it's dirt cheap. :D It cost Pol and I half of what ONE plane ticket would have cost to get us to where we were going.

If you can, pay a tiny bit more and take the Adirondack Trailways part of the way. Better busses. :D I took the liberty of looking it up for you. If you can get to Montreal, (by Greyhound I suppose) then it'll cost you 94$ (US) (that's return trip too) to get to Albany from there. Then, on to Buffalo which is $115 round trip and then from there, Greyhound.

Though that's a bit of a hassle. Unless you like the better busses. :)

Anyway. I didn't mean to scare you, just be careful! :)

I'd recommend Greyhound, too. (Although, I prefer to travel by train.) Listen to KimberSly... they like to lose luggage if you don't keep track of it.

Have a safe and fun trip! :drinking:

I'm another fan of Greyhound. With my husband playing hockey, he's usually playing for a team that's quite a ways away from our home. When he leaves for hockey season since I no longer travel with him, we always buy his bus ticket on the Greyhound website because it's so much cheaper than flying. We've had good luck with Greyhound and if you buy your ticket at least 7 days in advance you usually get a much better deal.

Listen to KimberSly though regarding baggage, you MUST be sure to keep an eye on your baggage. I remember the trip from Calgary to Arkansas that I travelled alone. Ugh, it was a nightmare because I did not know I had to lug my own baggage from bus to bus, and I had 3 hockey bags full of crap. It was the worst experience and 5 travel days i've ever had.

My advice? Buy your ticket early, and travel light.

I'm sorry you had a bad time with this..... however, I've been traveling with greyhound since I was 10 years old, and always had to do at least one transfer. I have never once had them not transfer my luggage.... if it's tagged correctly, then it gets where it's supposed to go, in my experience. :)

Well  Ours was tagged, but it's no where to be found. They have a national tracer going on it right now.

I was just erring on the side of caution anyway. Better to be safe than sorry. :)

I like to travel greyhound, and I haven't lost any bags either. But I do keep an eye on my bags as much as possible. I've met some kewl people on the bus, and I like to watch the different towns and the land.
