What video game are you currently playing?

Arinya
July 27th, 2005, 12:34 AM
Oh man
Now that's a question!

Here are the games I'm currently playing, and by currently playing I mean I play them 2 or more times a week at least:

World of Warcraft - catch me on the whisperwind server, woot horde!!
The Sims 2 - I'm an addict hehe
Civilization 3
Dungeon Keeper 2
Pokemon Sapphire for GBA (when I'm at work hehe)
GTA: San Andreas
Theif 3: Deadly Shadows

I think that's about it...I'll always toss in a few other games here and there but those have been my lately consistent ones
I am such a geek hehe _whistle_

Age of Mythology. Me wubs myth units. It's legitimate cheating. :D It's kinda obsessive. I still play the Age of Empires games too. They're like the only games I play. I like them. :) I don't play a lot of games, but those ones I love.

I just started a fresh party in Final Fantasy I. Check it out:

Black Belt
Black Belt
White Mage
Black Mage

The hand-to-hand combat kinda stinks right now as they're all at level 3, but once the Black Belts are good enough to fight bare-handed and the Mages get a good amount of magic spells, it's gonna ROCK. I'm just trying to wean myself of fighters, y'know?

Still Guild Wars !
What is Guild Wars?

Lunacie
August 9th, 2005, 10:25 PM
Guild Wars is kind of like EverQuest, you buy the game but you don't have to pay a stiff monthly fee. They are constantly updating and adding on to the world, new areas and new quests. You can team up with hirelings and go out by yourself, or join a guild and form a party of folks who can play at the same time you do. There are 8 different classes (if I remember right) and two gender choices, but I do wish there were a choice of races like elves or dwarves or halflings. I love playing a Ranger/Monk and having a huge cat for a companion and casting some nasty smiting spells. :T

I'm playing my *original* M-rated PC copy of San Andreas. That game really pisses me off. Some of these missions are ridiculous. So I just like to drive around to heavily congested freeways and blow cars up and kill people until I die, or take an airplane and try to land it on buildings or heavily congested freeways.

I'm also still playing around with Rome: Total War. That game still rocks.

Next purchase: Guild Wars. If I had some damn money...

I just looked at a couple of Guild Wars sites, and it looks interesting... but it's pretty lame that there are no other races. :awwman:

Just for the pleasure of it.

I rented "Barbarians" and will check that out - I had a Blockbuster.com coupon that was about to expire and didn't have anything else I wanted to get.

I have X-Men Legends waiting in the wings, God of War that I just stopped playing and really should finish, and Sly Cooper 3 (soooo up to date, aren't I?). I just have the Civ 3 Gold with no expansions (there are two expansions, correct?). How do you play Civilization as an email game? It doesn't seem like the type that would lend itself to that form of communication between opponents.

While not a video game (well they made one but I've heard that it sucks), I've been itching to play Diplomacy through email. I LOVE that board game. Besides that fact that it takes like 10 hours to play it fully, it's great. For those that haven't heard of it, it's like Risk, but without dice chance involved.

unfortunatley you need "i think" the PTW (play the world) expansion in order to play civ3 through email, my brother-in-law plays it through email on a regular basis however i've never played the game in any other mode then singleplayer, although i do own the PTW expansion somewhere..
I have yet to buy the medievl expansion which is the latest one i believe.
i do play Age of Wonders & AoW2 and Space Empires through email quite alot "more so AoW1 & 2 then SEiV, mostly cause im new to SEiV.
you set up a time, supply a link to the game and i'd be more then happy to play you a few games of Diplomacy through email, another game thats free and can be played through tcp/ip is http://www.wesnoth.org/

Unfortunately for Diplomacy, it requires 7 players (although there are loads of variations).

I may ask for play the world expansion as a present if you can play via email. Reduces the time commitment required (one of the reasons why my FFXI online gaming has dropped off recently).

I'll look into those other games too. I haven't played a good strategy game against anyone in a long time.

Currently, I've only been playing DS games... The stylus control feels so good to me that if I play anything else it seems like a step back. Might try the Wii someday, though, as that has a unique control thinger, but I've never been able to actually find one, lol.

As for those DS games I'm playing, they are:

New Super Mario Bros. - This game kicks ass. Feels very similar to the original, but with updated graphics and so on. Also, has a ton of features borrowed from Mario games made since then, as well as a few new ones. Man, I wish it included those football players from Mario World and the ability to ride Yoshis... other than that, kickass game and even if you complete it there are still various mini games bundled with it.

Brain Age - Not your typical sort of game, and not one you'd want to sit and play for hours but it keeps drawing me in to see how my intelligence is improving, and I have improved considerably. First time I played my brain age was 80, lol... but I've improved and now my brain age is 26. The best possible score is 20, so I'm not doing that bad at all.

Big Brain Academy - Similar to above, but it scores you differently and is something you can play longer each day.

Clubhouse Games - Awesome collection of 40 classics; such as chess, checkers, ton of card games, billiards, mini gold, darts, mahjong, and tons of others that I'd never even heard of. Also included an enhanced version of Pictochat and the ability to play against people online. This is something that will never age, because these games are timeless.

Planet Puzzle League - Basically a remake of Tetris Attack. I'm a huge Tetris Attack fan, and this doesn't disappoint me... though I wish it had Yoshi in it like the original did.

Tetris DS - Haven't been playing this one that much lately, but this too kicks ass and is online enabled.

So yeah, I'm into puzzlers right now except for NSMB. I'm not big on button mashing forms of gaming or FPS shooters. :)

Now that I finally got a Wii, I am playing Wii Sports and Wii Play. Mostly I'm doing that tank shooting game in Wii Play and trying to improve my score. So far my record is 51 or so which has netted me a Silver Medal.

It's really addictive, but the games in Wii sports and Wii play feel more like demos of games as opposed to real actual games. I'll have to look for something with more depth next time I come across some money. I am thinking of that new Zelda, but I want something with variety...

Not really playing anything right now, but when I do it is still Wii play. Don't really have a lot of money for video games right now, and the Wii still doesn't have a big selection. Don't want to go back to inferior consoles with their lack of motion control.... 8O

Console girl here, and since xbox 180 games are so cheap, it's like a little piece of heaven in the game stores. ^_^

I just bought Manhunt and I'm playing it through again. Besides being a stress relief, I think it's very creative.

Yeah, I'm thinking Zelda for my next purchase, but that Tank game was awesome fun with the control system. It just felt like a demo, though. I can't wait until they start getting some more detailed tank shooters for it, and I'm sure they will in time.

Also, some FPS would be good. But yeah, Zelda will probably be my next purchase. Every game library should be diverse. You get sick of doing one genre all the time.:santasmil

Currently playing Luigi's Mansion. Technically it is a Gamecube game, but I am playing it on my Wii.

I don't know why it is so under-rated. It is pretty original, and suspenseful at times. It isn't a horror game per se, as there is no gore and stuff, but you never know when a ghost is going to jump out at you. Plus the mansion is pretty scary in and of itself.

You can load up on Gamecube games for cheap these days as stores are trying to clear out inventory from the previous generation. :hutone:

Oh, and I'm harvesting all the little sisters instead of rescuing them...I think you're better of rescuing them though.

I'm really impressed with the level of detail that went into the game world and storyline. It was certainly one of the most gripping stories I've seen in a game in a long time. My wife likes to sit and watch me play through it, just because of the story.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl on the PC. First half of this game is excellent, very atmospheric, massive freedom of movement, lots to explore and do; it’s like a cross between first person shoot ‘em up and a role playing game! There aren’t enough mutants though, the main enemy always seems to be human!

The second half of the game ties you in too closely to missions from which there doesn’t seem to be much room to deviate and I started to find this boring. The RPG element also faded as the imperative to trade and upgrade disappears when money is no longer important and equipment becomes freely available.

This game gave me some genuine startling moments and the AI of the other characters was often very good, sometimes too good, they could shoot from the hip whilst moving and still kill you while you trying to get them into your sights!

For 5 it wasn’t bad but I’m glad that I waited before buying it on first release. Most pleasing of all was discovering that my ageing PC could still run the game without any problems!

"No More Heroes" for the Wii. In the game, you are an assassin who gets a "Beam Katana" from an online auction, and this beam Katana is an awful lot like a lightsaber from the star wars universe, and with it you become an assassin and try to become the number 1 assassin in the world, or something like that...

It involves alot of killing, naturally, and it's the best sword-fighting style game I've played on the Wii thus far. I highly recommend it for anyone who cares anything at all about sword-fighting, or GTA style games.

Make sure you are well stocked before taking on the cave of ordeals! For me, that cave was tougher than any of the bosses (even ganon)!

Cake mania 2 and Garden Defender :weirdsmil

I am kinda hooked on those lil cheesy games on the mees site. Great time passers and not to complex.

I like those cheesy lil games too *cough* Cake Mania 2 and Diner Dash 2.

Also I've been playing Bully, We Love Katamari and just got Grandia III but haven't played it yet.

Actually I'm doing one of the challenges on gamefaqs... 3 hearts, no bottles, 30 arrows, 30 bombs, wooden shield(which ya let get burnt asap in there), and the Ordon sword. No using the Magic Armor. Technically not supposed to get any of the Hidden Skills beyond the first but its really easy to not use em.

I tried the Cave of Ordeals waaaaaay too early and got stuck since I lacked equipment ... whatever that last weapon/item you get is

*faints* are you at least allowed to fill your jars with jellies and dig hearts up with your wolf instincts? Otherwise, I dunno... if you can somehow pull that challenge off you have my respect.

Nope! No jelly, no hearts. Actually I beat it before I went to work, had about 1 1/2 hearts left... only cause the dang flying lizards hit me. The Darknuts in the final room are actually easier then the flying lizards in the one before it.

One of the keys is that you can snipe the more dangerous enemies from the upper platform... such as the Bokolin Archers(not supposed to use the Hawkeye either...) and bomb arrows on the Chillfos(wait til they throw their spears and a single bomb arrow shatters them). Theres also 2 rooms where theres archers on the scaffolds and you can let em fire at you while still on the ledge in the hallway, dodge, and pick up the arrow to restock your arrows. And the Ball and Chain can act like a shield also if you're quick enough.

What sucks about the cave of ordeals is there is close to 50 caves you have to go through, and the first 40 or so are really easy, but also very time consuming. If you could just go straight to the tougher part, that would be great, but it just takes a long time to get there...

But congratulations on doing the challenge. I don't think I'll even be attempting that.8O

Conan...

Hack 'n' Slash gameplay is fun at first, but gets old fast; not even sure if I'll stand it long enough to finish the story. I'm glad I can probably sell it for as much as I bought it for.

After this? Hopefully GTA4, I've been itching to play that.

COD4 - I seem good at it, as in I can hold my own even against the no lifers that play 24/7 - not a testament to my skill, but to the games ability to even the divide between casual and hardcore gamers.

Hardcore gamers are rewarded, but in ways different to other games.

Also dabbling in blue dragon. Want to complete all my RPGs again :)
