Okay, I know this is in the wrong section, but I read somewhere a letter to classroom teachers entitled "You have a Pagan child" and I am desperately looking for a copy of this to send to my daughter's teacher this year.

I have tried several google searches and looked on a number of the popular pagan parenting websites.

Any help anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Rowan

Well....I found this...

You Have A Pagan Student In Your School (http://www.paganpride.org/resources/paganstudent.html)

I don't know if this one is exactly the same or not...

Pagans In Schools (http://www.wwpn.org/Pages/pagans_in_school.htm)

...but I think it is, so....

Anyway, hope this helps.

Wow, good basic information to share with a teacher. . .and not threatening in any way.

RowanMegaera, what grade will your child be in? If she's been in school before, I was wondering how teacher/students treated her? I'm very much in the 'broom closet', so have never shared information like this with my child's teachers, but I would like to hear your experience.

Back when I was into Hellenismos, I ran across that letter. It's a pretty blatant misnomer. It isn't "You have a Pagan child in your class." so much as "You have a Wiccan child in your class." If you're Wiccan, I'd use it, but change "Pagan" to "Wiccan," so that you're not propagating the Pagan=Wiccan myth.

Thank you all very much!

In response to Hellenic Witch, my daughter will be a 2nd grader. We're military so we move around a lot and up until recently the religious things weren't much of an issue, however, since we've moved to Texas they seem to push a lot more Christianity in the classroom whether it's official or not. I'm not an in your face "I'm a Witch, deal with it!" type person, however I also do not hide my beliefs. My daughter has been exposed to a wide variety of religious beliefs and has only recently started attending public rituals with me. My husband is a Christian, and his father is a minister in the Disciples of Christ church, so she does go to Sunday school as well. We celebrate Pagan, Christian, Hindu and some Jewish holidays to honor our families and our own personal beliefs.

As far as the issues presented in the Wiccan = Pagan question, I wanted this letter just as a reference point for a list of things I want to address with my own writing. I am not a Wiccan, though I do incorporate a number of Wiccan-style beliefs into my own practice. You're absolutely right though, the letter is heavily biased and I had no intentions of using it as is.

Thank you all again!

I've seen this before, and I loved it just as much then. I'm considering sending it to the principal of the school I used to attend.

A good, well rounded letter with a great vocabulary. I had to look up proscribed and eschatological! :bigredgri
