Okay..how many of you watched it? What did you think. I was surprised at Tara's voice. Beautiful! And Giles' voice...was good too.

I liked the "fire" song.

So..this show, was I guess..the introduction to Giles going to England. Will he take Anya with him? Poor Xander!

Ok...question....is it Just Angel who had the curse on him with the soul thing, or could the same problem present itsself with Spike?

Oh..and do you think that Willow and Tara will make up? Or break up? And do you think that Willow will stop doing spells at all now?
I really hope that they don't all of a sudden drop the whole willow being a witch thing. That wouldn't be fair. She simply needs to tame herself.

I liked it, it was a great show!

I expected a better finale number though. Buffy kissing Spike = Lame. I mean, he did come to her rescue, but come on, it's Spike.

Giles was the best character on that show, ever, hands down. It's too bad he's leaving. I love the dream episode, where he gets up in his dream and starts singing at the Bronze, and everyone's holding up lighters... that was another gem of a show.

Just Angel, Danu.

Mind you I forgot to watch it. I think Willow should check herself before she wrecks herself (hm a li'l gangspeak there, sorry) :D

I thought it was great-- the best voices were definitely Tara, Anya, and Giles. My favorite songs were the "Walk Through the Fire," Tara's, and Anya and Xander's "I'll Never Tell." I did also immensely enjoy Anya's bunny rockout, although it scared me a little, and the line in "I've Got a Theory" (ooh another good song) of Xander's about "It could be witches, evil witches...." etc.

I thought Michelle Tractenburg really showed her dancing skills, and she's definitely a better dancer than singer. Sarah Michelle Gellar wasn't bad at all.

About Spike-- I don't think he would ever be cursed the same as Angel was.

Tara and Willow-- I hope they DO break up; if I were Tara I would definitely break up with my mind-controlling, power-hungry girlfriend. I speculate that they *are* going to, as Amber Benson still isn't a regular this season. I don't think Willow's that willing to give up her magic.

I love Giles. I can't believe he's going away. :(

actually, the show will replay on UPN on Saturday, because they replay each episode then... :D but, yesterday was the only airing of the full length eppie. see, the episode was actually 8 minutes longer than it should've been and UPN was nice enough to let them show the entire thing. when it replays on Saturday, I read that it will have generous cuts taken out and such.

i do agree though, it was the best episode ever... well.. okay.. not EVER, because "The Body" and "Bargaining" Parts 1 & 2 were awesome as well. ;)

But, ANYWAY! Yes, ASH has an awesome voice, as does AB. they both performed on the VH1 Rocky Horror Picture Show anniversary special thingy a while back... AB was... OMG! *drools* and ASH was in drag... quite the funny sight.

for some reason, i have a feeling that Anya doesn't really feel for Giles the way the previews showed.... I think she might be reacting in a way she thinks she supposed to... yanno what i mean? lol

well, i think i've posted enough for now! cya later slayers! jk

I happened to watch this on accident last night. I don't watch Buffy at all, and I actually thought this was a re-run.

I thought it was ridiculous :p I thught the idea was funny as hell--but there was just TOO MUCH SINGING!#!@! And I thought damn near everyone had a terrible singing voice. (Then again, i know i'm very snobby about singing voices, ex-opera major that I am)

If they'd had less singing (and maybe brought in some voice doubles) it would have been really funny.

Though I loved that "I'll never Tell" song. I thought that was very clever.

The willow tara thing was cool in the begining, but now its sorta annoying. I hope they break up, too. Or they make Willow a better character ... you just had to love her in the 1-3 seasons!

November 7th, 2001, 11:37 AM
I tend to liken the Willow/Tara relationship to the one Willow and Buffy had in the beginning. Not the romantic aspect, but the part that Willow was kind of the shy outcast, and Buffy was the stronger one with the powers who kind of brought her into her slaying circle, and now Willow's the one with all the power, bringing the shyer Tara into the group.

That said, I really liked Willow better during seasons 1-3 as well.

I'm a little spoiled for next week, so I know the deal with the Anya/Giles kiss. :D

Giles was the best character on that show, ever, hands down. It's too bad he's leaving. I love the dream episode, where he gets up in his dream and starts singing at the Bronze, and everyone's holding up lighters... that was another gem of a show.

Nobody has Willow and Tara's song, the one where they get busy at the end!

I don't usually like musicals either, amberlaine.

The only thing that bugs me about the willow/tara thing is that it seems in every episode now we have to see them making out or going to bed together. It's so obviously a ratings grab.

kittiepoetrygod
November 7th, 2001, 02:44 PM
Thanks for the info Mari. Now I'm mad, but thanks!

Myst: I agree. I see nothing wrong with them making out, but really, NOONE makes out and has sex every day. At least noone i've met before. I liked it on the stair well at the bronze, because it was real. But after that and in alot of the other epps, its just fake, and like you said, a ratings grab.

Loopy: I just realised the paraells or that, but Tara isn't developing like Willow did, and that takes from the show. If Tara weren't a Witch, it might be better.

Something really needs to humble Willow. Perhaps Tara refusing to let her do something magickal, then Willow trying to, then Tara stopping her? That would be ok. The writier should really take care of her.

This Simply ROCKED! I am a lover of Musicals! ANd this one was fun, I particularly liked the first when Buffy killed the final vampire, and when he died that cool misty effect with ALIVE. I recorded it:):):)<---The whole episode

The funniest Line was by far, It could be witches, some evil witches which is ridiculous because witches they were persecuted wicked good and love the earth and woman power and I will be over here. LOL!!!!!!! :rotfl:

I think the Coolest Character on this episode HAS to be, the dancing Demon! HE WAS SO COOL!!!!!!!!! I loved him so much! LOL

When I'm all alone, watching Buffy, and I start to get, well, embarrassed for the actors, and I start climbing up the back of the couch, and trying to meld with the mini-blinds, Ummm ... I guess I'm not having such a good response to the show.

Good thing I recorded it so's I can watch it again.

Well I have a feeling that Tara is going to break up with Willow, that was the whole point of the song "Wish I could stay", which was about Giles going back to jolly old england and Tara leaving Willow, because she's using mind control spells.

And yeah, the whole lesbian thing was kind of cool when it was first starting... remember the entire episode that was a dream? And Tara and Willow were in Xander's dream, and they were in the back of the ice cream truck dressed like hookers and he left Anya to drive so he could go back there and get busy with them.. except he never made it what with it being a dream and all... that was a great episode too, especially because Giles sang in that one too. But now, Tara and Willow get intimate every damn episode, and it's getting a bit old.

What happened to that other witch girl, the one they turned into a rat?!!?? Bring her back!

:ugh:

I don't know.....
I am one of the biggest fans of the whole Buffy genre, I haven't missed an episode but I am getting scared that Buffy is having a "jump the shark" moment.
Not that I hated the musical episiode (at least there were revelations) but has anyone noticed how damn depressing this show is getting? I love the campiness of the show. That's the way Buffy is supposed to be. However, it's getting waaaaaayyyy too serious. This whole bringing her back from the dead thing. geeeeez I mean who here did not see the whole, "she was in heaven thing" coming? Duh..... she sacrificed her life to save the world (and maybe several others by the looks of it) why wouldn't she be in"heaven"? I know I know...it's a TV show. But if I want to be this deep and depressed I'll watch the Xfiles or something. This show needs to get back to the Vampire Slayer aspect (imho)
We need all the "significant others" out of the picture too. Too much going on. I hope the show is going to start focusing on Buffy again soon. I was really digging the Willow Witch thing but now it's getting to be too much. As far as Giles..shame he's going but he's going to have his own show, wish it was playing in the states. Am I rambling? LOL oh well I still love the show and enjoy watching the reruns more though these days.
p.s. Spike's whole character needs some retooling...he was sooooo scary evil but a chip in his head and suddenly he's all puppy dog? puleeze. He still has no soul so I guess he suddenly saw the light? eh. I hope the show starts kickin some butt again.
my 2,000,000 cents :D

Uh, Hello?

did you SEE the musical episode?

A full HALF of it was happy, funny songs. The guy dancing about getting the mustard stains out of his shirt? The lady lamenting about the parking ticket, and Xander and Anya's number, and Willow and Tara's number, and "I've got a Theory"... and the part where she's singing while rescuing the guy from the demons, tell me that was not hilarious!

Granted it ended sort of dark, but hey, that's life on the hellmouth for ya.

And they even poked fun at the dark turn the show turned to in the end. During the whole demon/dawn/group dancing thing. Someone in there during the counterpoint said.."anyone notice how dark this is getting?".

lol.

I thought the musical episode was pure genius. I think it would have sucked a fat one if they would have gotten voice doubles... the point of the show was not that they were awesome singers... not everyone in the world is a great singer. I thought it was amazing and deffinitely well thought out. 3 cheers for Joss Whedon!!!!

I think James Marsters has an amazing voice... could he be any yummier?? Of course not! Which is why, all of you Spikeaholics should go to people magazine online and vote for James Marsters as the sexiest man alive! He's 2nd only to Mel Gibson (at least last time I checked). :)

I LOVED this episode! There were so many parts that had me bursting out laughing!

I thought Amber Benson/Tara and Anthony Stewart Head/Giles had the best voices, hands down. I've heard Giles sing before (yes, the dream episode with him at the Bronze was brilliant!), but Tara was such a welcome surprise! James Marsters/Spike/*drool* was good too. I've heard that he has/had a band?

I also thought the fact that Nicholas Brennan/Xander couldn't sing his way out of a paper bag was terrific! Here is this guy doing a big song and dance number and his voice is horrible! Just TOO funny!

This week's show was pretty great too. "Randy?!?" :rotfl: I almost snorted water out my nose at that one!!

I only saw the latter 40 min ... so i didn't get the whole meaning. Randy and Joan had me floored!

Can this be an all purpose buffy thread?

If so, what happened during the musical and the first 20 min of the show?

PS. Rat girl = Amy, who at the time of aquiring rathood, was a much more powerful witch than Willow. Now we'll see...

No way, Xander was great, it was Willow that came up lacking. She only had like 2 lines to herself in the "I've Got a Theory" song, and they were nasal and forced. Dawn did fine too.

There's going to be an encore of the musical this Friday on UPN... so don't miss it again. I don't think they're going to show the entire thing, at least one song is going to be cut.. but it's still a great show!

In the previews of the Buffy Musical on UPN, it had one that Alison Hannigan said "hey, i'm just here to lip sync"....so i think that's why she only had two lines...lol...at least they knew enough not to have her sing that much...]

yes, Randy was hilarious...and GIles and Anya...woohoo!!!!!! but it's so sad that Giles and Tara left....so so sad....

I think it was really sad when Tara left, and Dawn wouldn't even say goodbye to her. I'm really ticked at Willow.

Kittie....the other witch was more powerful? Then why was she vanquished?

SpikesPet5150
November 14th, 2001, 10:33 PM
She wasn't vanquished... she turned herself into a rat, (in Gingerbread-3rd season) to avoid being burned at the stake by M.O.O (mothers opposing the occult). And Willow was supposed to turn her back... but never could, at least until Something Blue, but she turned her right back again and didn't even know it! :)

Maybe multiple personality Buffy. School buffy, fight buffy, Girlie Girl buffy, and Evil buffy.
