Hi everyone,
I moved into my new bedroom a few months ago and since the start i've felt a negative energy in the room, but the more time i've spent there the stronger the sense of danger i feel i'm in. The spirit that is in the room, which i believe to be an old man, used to simply keep me awake at night until i would manage to ignore it and manage to fall asleep but now, it seems persistant to make me as uncomfortable as it can. He has been there since my family and I moved in about 12 years ago.
It hasn't thrown things around the room or tried to physically hurt me, and its hard to explain how the spirit is making me feel scared. Physically i see him out of the corner of my eye but mentally i can see him and he likes to make me feel tormented. I've had to sleep in other rooms, but sometimes the spirit follows me. I've asked him to leave me alone, or at least let me sleep at night but he never does. And now, he's actually 'haunting' my dreams. Not just appearing there, but taking them over and turning them into nightmares :ack:
I feel kind of stupid writing this, and i'm sure i'm not explaining it very well, but its never gone this far with a ghost/spirit in the past. Can any tell me how i can ease the situation? I've never done cleasening, but i've placed salt as protection around a different room before in another situation, which was sucessful in helping the spirit to calm down. Would that still work?
Thanks for reading,
Louise

Have you tried smudging the room? Have you tried asking it to leave?

Do visualizations every night of a powerful white or golden light scouring the room, maybe the house as well, of negativity and also visualize a powerful protective light surrounding yourself to create a barrier that the spirit can't reach through. Good luck.

I have the exact same problem - you're not on your own with this one!
OK, so for spirits salt acts the same a brick wall would for us humans - a spirit can't pass through it. It works the same when we astral travel - we can't cross a line of salt, at least not without a struggle. So by salting without cleasing first, in effect you're bricking the spirit into your room.
There are lots of different methods for cleansing and warding, but this is what I do.
I take a black candle and carve runes into it and charge it with intent (i.e. banishing the nasties). I take the candle around the whole house and walk the perimeter of each room, making sure I can waft the candle into every nook and cranny and corner, chanting something banishing-like (I'm not terribley good at chants, so I wont embarass myself by posting it ;) ).
Once that's done I light a smudge stick straight from the candle - sage is good, although I'm thinking of trying a herbal mix more appropriate to my pantheon. I then leave the candle to burn down in the most affected room (i.e. your bedroom) whilst I carry the smudge stick around the house doing the same as I did with the candle.
Then once I'm satisfied there's nothing left in the house, I take sea-salt around the house and sprinkle it along the top of the picture rail - somewhere it wont get wiped off. I also have placed quartz chips - the really little ones kind of the size of your little finger nail - in the corners of each room (the ancient scots used to put quartz chips in the circumference of the circles they carve into the land), and as I do so I chant - "Quartz of Earth, Salt of Sea, Protect this place; From harm keep me".
Ontop of all of that, I have a few dozen "permenent wards around the house; rowan twigs tied with red thread in the shape of a cross above my bed-head, my bed-foot, my bedroom door and my front door; a clay disk with a rune in it hanging above my bed; a protective acorn charm from MW-board-member Skilly-Nilly (who is the mother of all spellcrafters ;) :steppy: )
I sound really paranoid, but honestly; even this level of warding only lasts 4-6 weeks before holes start to show and you have to do the whole thing again. You have to be persistant and consistant, or so it would seem.
Good luck; feel free to PM me anytime :hugz:

what's smudging a room?
I feel that there is something in this room and bathroom connected to it in my house. My cat seems comfortable laying there as he always has. I don't feel as bad during the day. I haven't seen it but can just feel or tell there's something and not good.
I'm wondering with you if it oculd be a demon, or chaos demon if they exist caues I really don't know, as opposed to a regular spirit.

what's smudging a room?
Sudging a room is when you take some kind of purification insence, most often sage, and youwalk around a room( or just waving on youself) with intention to purify the space. I usually say spirits of sage (or other plant) please cleans this room and myself of harmful energies. over and over again until I feel okay.

Yes, salt almost always works. Tell him/ it to go away, throw salt all over the room and let it lie there for a few days. When you vacuum the room, smudge it with a burning sage wand (might have to disconnect the smoke alarm first), and consecrate it to your use.

Which is why you should just throw salt all over the room. Think of it being more like an ice-cold brick wall that drains away all of a spirits energy if/ when they are near it. When it comes out, they will start fleeing. When it is all over the floor, they will stay away. When stays all over the floor for many days, they will stop returning.

...yes, but then you have to hoover it up (thereby the warding not lasting so long), after spending a week with gritty salt between your toes :nyah: easier to cleanse, then leave the salt somewhere it wont get moved.

Hello.
There are clothes within the walls of the house that belong to this old man.
He's looking for his belongings.
Find them, and tell them that he can have his things.
He will leave.
Then Bless the house.
Holy Water is good.
