Merry Meet Everyone!
I am a new witch who has just started on my path, but things seem to be happening quickly! I have two questions and I wondered if anyone could help.
Firstly, on my alter I have some written wishes that I made at Imbolc. Yesterday one of my wishes was granted in a completely unexpected and unusual way. How should I say thank you? As I said I am new to this and not really confident of doing much, but I want to show my gratefulness somehow.
Secondly, is there a rule for how long you should leave your alter decorated in sabbat colours? Mine is still dressed in Imbolc colours, is this a bad thing?
I appreciate any help offered.
Blessed be

Your path is yours.
Your alter is yours.
In the ways of The Craft, only YOU can deiside.
What colours apply, at what time, are the ways of your path. The Sabbat matters not.
Be well and, in the ways of the mother may you travel.
Blessed Be. And I mean that.

Decorate your altar however you like; I tend to make separate temporary altars for sabbat rituals, and usually do a spring clean of my permanent one at Imbolc. If you like the way yours looks with the sabbat colours (or simply can't be bothered changing it ;) ) then it's fine to leave it as is.
As for saying thankyou...you could simply go into a meditative state infront of your altar, visualise the Goddess and say thanks! Sometimes if I've written the wish or spell and kept it, I burn the paper when what I've worked for occurs, to mark the finish of the ritual. If you want to do something physical to thank the Lady, you could burn a white candle and some of your favourite incense as a little offering...

A secondary alter is a great idea.
Burning the paper is another good thing to bring conclusion. I had once taken a small bottle (like the ones on airplanes) of rum and poured it out in the dessert - I've been sober since. Sometime we need to conclude banishing, or enlightenment with an equally gratuitous ritual.
Hooked on Pagan worked for me!

I also tend to do a whole libational-type thingy by way of saying thanks...
I like to adapt some of the traditional faerie offerings, like a saucer of milk, or honey (or both mixed togther!) with a small prayer of thankyou said over it, left outside where the moon's light will fall on it, at least at some point during the night.
And .. err... I only just rearranmged my altar yesterday. It's been the same for six months now, and I am ashamed to say it was dusty *hangs head*

Thank you everyone for your replies.
It is really great to know I have somewhere to come for friendly help and advice. I was actually thinking of burning the paper on which my wishes were written, but your confirmation lets me know I wasn't planning on doing something weird!
Some things just feel right, and everytime I do something witchy I feel like I am truly being myself.
Blessed Be

I do believe Fuzzy Logic does tickle if applied illogically.
Sort of like Fuzzy Math or Fuzzy Wuzzy.
