How do you dispute your date of birth on a credit report? I just got a free online credit report and it shows my birthday as "May 1st 1949". My birthday is July 17th 1985! I clicked on the dispute link but it doesn't have any where to dispute date of birth!

there is a toll free number to call for each of the 3 reporting agencies...
Trans Union, Experian, and Equifax... the best thing to do is contact each of those agencies directly.. If you deal with a website, or a free credit report company the information will take longer to get updated as they have to contact the 3 majors for you... That would be my advice..

That is a bad error!!! Do they have a toll free number anywhere on their site? Thats a major ID error!!!

Everything else on my credit report seems to be accurate except for the date of birth. Now I think I know why I didn't get the jobs I applied for and why my credit cards hiked up their interest rates to 30%. I didn't see any 1-800 numbers but I will call and get this fixed nevertheless.

Ya know...I have had the hardest time trying to find a free credit report for myself that does not require having to sign up for something.

had the same problem, KC. they listed my birthday as being the same, but a year later. All I did was go online to the website ( www.annualcreditreports.com (www.annualcreditreports.com) ) and went to each of the three major credit reporters, and used the dispute button. it then asks you to highlight the area or information you are disputing and send it to the company. I recieved an email about a week later stating that it had been updated, and then about 3 or 4 days after that I recieved a paper in the mail stating the same.
