Has anyone else been called something different than their given name by their spirit-guides? Since I don't practice magick I'd hesitate to call it a 'magickal' name.... let's say spiritual then, for all intents and purposes. Hmmm. I've been doing so reading and I haven't found anything... anyone have any experience?
Blessed be,

Spirit guides are just that... A spirit that guides and helps you along you path. It can be a human animal, I've even heard of some people having a certain tree spirit guide before.

There are different types of guides, of different levels and for different types of guidance. There are posts around the forums, if you're interested, do a search.

I actually haven't used names with my guides before, now that i think about it, Shadowsong. Though, I've always called my chosen name a spiritual name, or pagan name, regardless about practicing magic or not - as it was more communing with spiritual people, or other things more spiritual than magickal.

Not to go into a lot of detail because I rarely talk about my relationship with my "guides" but they do have a name for me. I asked why they called me thus and I was told that it was my name a ways back. It's an old Gaelic name. And from what I experience with them I would say a ways back is an understatement.

Yea that's what's happening with me, too. Kind of neat really, considering I don't exactly know what my past lives were, except for one. Heh.
Thanks all! :)

My spirit guide, Bess, calls me by my name and no other. Unless, she has, and I just haven't noticed it. It's totally possible. Kind of a neat concept really.

I would imagine it would depend on the guide, and their personality. Mine have given me nicknames in the past.

Yes!
Often....
I think they tend to focus more on their best established connection to you, as opposed to the circumstances of your current life.

what exactly is a spirit guide?

A non-physical entity whom most can mentally hear or sometimes see who advises you, helps you acheive your goals, inspires you in unexpected ways...Did you see the Doors movie with Val Kilmer? That Indian was more than just a 'delusion' or a 'memory' that Jim Morrison kept having......that was a Spirit Guide.

yes, my guide calls me Erin even though I go by my middle name Renee. The only person that calls me Erin is my mother. I've always thought that my guide uses that name because it reminds me of my mother.

Yes it can be a name from another lifetime as was stated above. You have Your answer now.If being called by that name bothers you ,just tell the guide. They will understand and ask what You wish to be called this time around . :heybaby:

I think it's possible to get another name from a spirit guide.

Yes it can be a name from another lifetime as was stated above.

That makes sense too...
I believe in reincarnation...and if everyone has a guide, they that guide may know things you don't, such as your other names.

I would think if a spirit guide is given you a name to first make sure the guide is naming you (as oposed to guiding you to someone with that name. Ex: you get the name Catherine from your guide and a month later a girl named Catherine comes into your life somehow) and/or if they are trying to tell you something through the name. (Every name has a meaning, using my example: Catherine means pure.)

Anything is possible :)

Hasn't happened to me, but if it did I would be very honored and accept the name graciously. :)
