I need many, the more the better, to post their favorite decks here. DH is wanting to give away tarot decks as door prizes for an upcoming Pagan celebration. Our friend can get them at cost from Llewellyn and US Games. This obviously does not cover all decks but it offers many choices…..

I would like to compile a suggestion list for DH that includes a variety of decks. Of course I have my favorites but I don’t want to choose just those. Please suggest decks that you love both artistically and seem well created. Don't worry if you are not familiar with Llewellyn and US Games' selections. But I know Tarot of Dreams, DruidCraft, Housewives are not listed FYI.

You can either just list your favorites or list one/two from the topics below:

Beginners decks:

Pagan/Witchy themed:

Occult/Symbolism heavy:

Cultural (Egyptian, Celtic, Native, etc) themed:

Fun or Whimsical:

Artistic or Offbeat:

Nature/Animal theme:

Fairy/Dragon/Otherkin theme:

Ancient/Historic themed (not necessarily ancient itself):

Thank you all and I look forward to your recommendations _happydanc

Thanks for the responses everyone! Don't worry about suggesting the same decks as other folks. That's what I want..... I am not looking for quantity of decks. I am looking to see which ones tarot users actually use, love, and would recommend.

For whimsical/humorous, you definitely have to include The Housewive's Tarot!

One of my new faves is The Tarot of Prague. The artwork is beautiful; the cards are collages of old maps, artwork, architechture and other things from the city of Prague. You can get a set with the deck and a book. The book has in-depth explanations of all the cards, plus a description of the artwork they used to make the image.

The Gilded Tarot and the Tarot of dreams, I don't own the Tarot of dreams but I have seen pictures and they are very beautiful cards

Ah, someone finally mentioned the Gilded, which is produced by Llewellyn. All the Barnes & Nobles around here have copies, so it's easily available (in contrast to Tarot of Dreams, which is author's website only). Gilded should be on your friend's list. It's quite popular. As a very attractive RWS variant, it looks like a solid "beginners" deck.

I like the Revelations (http://adflatus.dthought.net/) as well. Also produced by Llewellyn, also easily available, but a little more off-beat than Gilded. It's got funky art. The main feature is that the cards are drawn both upright and reversed. It may be a matter of taste, but I find this deck intuitively accessible. And the Devil's snazzy! ;)

I have the Witches Tarot, which I love. It is my favorite deck and I use it for most of my readings.

I also have the Sacred Circle Tarot. This is a gorgeous deck, beautiful artwork. I prefer it for my spiritual readings.

If I were to buy myself a third deck, it would probably be the Celtic Dragon Tarot.
