An American Airlines Airbus just crashed in Queens at 9:15. It hit a residential area. 4 bldgs are reported on fire, with a gas station at the supposed location. At this time, it is not being reported as a terrorist attack. However, the wing engine was on fire.
Details are sketchy at the moment.

:( I am watching on TV now. They are saying maybe "Catastrophic engine failure"...... maybe. More than likely.

MSNBC is reporting 12 buildings on fire, and that they think most are residences. THey also said FBI ect are looking into possible terrorist connection although there is no evidence at this pooint, just a precaution.

Even if this wasn't a terrorist act (which I don't think it was) it's awful. I'll be lighting a candle today for sure.

Well, all the reports here, to me are conflicting. Cause one reporter says one thing or another cannot be confirmed, then another report comes out debunking it. The flames and smoke are incredible, i'm home on my lunch break. One of the guys in my office used to work for American. He was explaining some stuff for us.
We had to tell a couple guys out in our shop about it. They are all from the DR and go visit quite often.
I just hide in my little corner and say, "no more" in a child like voice, cause I don't think I can handle any more bad stuff happpening here in NY. I keep feeling like: "why can't they just pick on some one else for a while". whether it's a terrorist attack or just fate, my home can't take much more of this.

It probably wasn't terrorists. Most of the passengers were Dominican citizens. The terrorists only want to kill Americans. An accident, thankfully.

I'll tell ya what. That plane crash showed us exactally how much this country has changed since 9/11. If that plane had crashed on September 10th, 2001, instead of November 12th, 2001...it wouldn't have gotten so much hype or media attention. But because of the terrorism stuff in New York, everyone panicked.

Actually, the nation panicked. New York didnt. New York just went on about its buisness. Terror and disasters are status quo there... I read on Salon that people didn't even watch the news, they just kept going on with whatever conversation they were having at the bars... hm.

Anything can just about happen right now. For instance, a person could plant a bomb in a mall/office building/school or whatever, and if they weren't caught RIGHT away, most likely people would blame it on the terrorists....

that's what happens when people have a scapegoat... Which is is foolish because, if I heard correctly, They have evidence that it was engine failure...

I'm so sick of hearing "TERRORIST!!" "D*MN RAGHEADS!!" "DIAPER HEADS!! HOW CAN THEY KEEP DOING THIS!?"
gods. The plane crashed because it was faulty, most likely. An accident. They happen at least once a year, and for some reason it's timed near the attack. Who knows why. But don't we all remember how many times there were plane crashes, and unless it was a weird or frightening cercomstance (I mean, relatively. It's always a frightening experience, but I mean, like they were calling the tower frantically or something, you know?). Unless they were those kind of cercomstances, chances are it'd get a five minute blurb on the news. Local sports would get more attention.
But people are so darn set on blaming it on terrorists. . . GODS even not all TERRORISTS are from the Arab world!!! Does anyone remember Oaklohoma City? Can we say AMERICAN CITIZEN?
right now, I think it is WE who are our most frightening enemy. . . but we have yet to truely realize the fear.
Give it about three months.
