View Full Version : The Ninja Thread

Okay, depending on where exactly this goes, it will either be really serious or end up in Just Silly. Either way, I want it to stay here for a couple of days so people can see it's around.... that, and I'm bored right now and have no life.

SO, who's a ninja? What tradition/ryu? Who likes ninjas? Who collects ninjas? Who knows some really great ninja anime? Where do you practice (if at all still)? Who thinks ninjas don't exist?

Okay, everything ninja or ninjish (which is now a word) belongs HERE. This is the ninja lover's thread!

Me? I studied Koga Ninjitsu in Oceanside, CA at a community center for a couple of years, and did private classes with the same instructor in Guge Gongii and a little Dim Hsueh (hear of Dim Mak? Dim Hsueh is the whole art that includes the harmful aspect that is Dim Mak, and a healing aspect as well). When the community center classes fell apart because my instructor got a life and could only teach private classes on weekends, and my boyfriend took over but everyone wanted a black belt teaching, not our teacher's appointed green belt, then the classes all became private, and much more painful (I know my bones have to be black and blue still from rolling down rocky hills to learn how to do it correctly the hard way).

Presently, I'm trying to get myself to study again, but it will probably take me getting into a dojo for some other art (since I'm about 850 miles away from my instructor and my boyfriend right now) to get my discipline back up to get back into at least practicing what I already know.

NINJAS!!!!

I'm not a ninja, or anything resembling a ninja, but I do like them, and I am not afraid to get involved in the pirate/ninja debate!

I'd love to find me some really horrible cheap ninja flicks, if anyone has titles.

He he. I liked all the cards, including the ninjas. I never played the game, but I have a bunch of cards because the artwork is so cool on them.

Oh, I soooo wish I was a ninja! :'( Grrr... I absolutely LOVE ninjas. I haven't watched much, but (from what I've seen) Ninja Scroll and Ninja X look very good. I hope to one day join the ranks of the ninja. Until then, I am the young boy who once saw a ninja sneaking around in his small oriental hut and has wished to become one ever since. :sniff:

Ninjas rock. I've always wanted a real ninja outfit, especially the boots. I dressed up as a ninja for Halloween a couple of years, and a couple of my cousins and I used to play Ninja during the summers at night, running around in the dark ambushing each other.

I also loved The Master TV series.

I love ninjas and samurai and the whole warrior culture. I have several books on the training of ninjas, including one on the tactics of the kunoichi. I can't study martial arts myself because of my extremely bad eyesight (study martial arts and go blind or not study and keep your vision, some choice!) so I'm strictly an armchair enthusiast.

Now tell me if this makes any sense to you - a thief, with enough training and Bahamut's blessing, becomes a ninja. I don't get it. I mean, the high agility score makes it somewhat logical, but I thought ninjas had a bit more in the way of scruples. Then again, scruples don't have a stat.

If I were male, people would be making cracks about my fate as an eternal virgin after reading this.

You're thinking samurai. Ninja have no scruples, other than "get the job done".

hrm i like the darkness that many ninja work in.

Does self taught count? grins mysteriously.

I'm especially interested in Togakureryu Ninjutsu.

Since you are evidently Kunoichi , you would know what is so appealing to me and how to do so. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v439/wolfscout1/ninja-anim.gif

I probably would, at least my boyfriend can confirm I know a lot from my training, but that's for MWad :deviltail

Yunh hunh! Actually I think she was talking D&D or something. Throughout history (well, except during the times they hired themselves to samurai), they only did what they did to survive. We still do that in modern times, though escape and talking ourselves out of situations is a lot easier than it was in more savage days. I'm more than happy to liberate someone of their ability to see, procreate, or properly use a limb or skin in order to escape harm or to help an innocent escape it, though. I'm sure that ninja that are hired by governments or as mercs probably are like the ones hired by samurai, though, just with better toys now.

Final Fantasy I, actually. One of the classes you can have a party member start as is thief, and at a certain point in the game everyone gets class upgrades. Thieves turn into ninjas, being the one class change that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Fighters become knights, black belts become masters and all of the mages become wizards. But thief to ninja? It puzzles me.

Ah! I see! My boyfriend is much more into the whole Final Fantasy series than I am (well, except the online one). But, yeah. Ninjas don't have the best PR department in the world, so they tend to be looked at in a very unflattering light... and like we can't kick butt because we're usually lackys for some evil tyrant and get killed off pretty quickly by any idiot with nunchucks.

I love the real ultimate power website!

A couple of years back, there was a site that I can't find anymore that kept taking movie pics and putting ninjas in various scenes, with the idea that all movies kick more butt if there's ninjas in them. I so wish I could find it! It was the best ninja site ever!

Oh, and about the l5r pics... _twohorns_
