I had to put my little dog, Wrinkles to sleep today, he was 17 years old. I rescued him from a puppy mill when he was 5 weeks old, I wasn't going to keep him, I was going to find a good home for him, but..........I have had him so long! I keep thinking he's laying under my desk like he always did, and I called him to dinner tonight. I'm not handling this well, and I don't know what to do. I'm SO depressed! I miss him so much, and it hurts!

Oh...I'm sorry for your loss, and I'm sending positive energies your way. I hope you feel better soon. I'm sure your puppy's happy where he is. And I agree, perhaps you should try talking to him.
Much Love

so it is natural to feel so sad. Wouldnt be human if ya didnt.
Just remember all the good stuff. Do you have any other pets?
They can help too.
I am down to one little dog, used to have 3!! And it hurt each time, but they were each great! One was hit by a car,(wouldnt come back when called liked to be ornery), the other got very sick and had to be put to sleep. It is hardest when you have to put them too sleep. When they are taken suddenly its like being robbed and not so much like your fault, but when you have to take them in you just feel, bad. It is a bitter thing to take but it beats watching them suffer to death.
All my prayers and well wishes for you.
Pets are proof to me of a divine spirit. Each pet has his own nobility.

that will bring both you and him comfort.....
would be to make a little shrine for him...... with whatever you deem suitable. so you can honor his life with you and his memory.........
and dont forget to cry all your tears......
I am sure he hears you ........
And I know you are holding him in your heart forever ...........

I am so sorry to hear to hear of your loss. I know for me one of the ways I cope is to get a new friend they are not there to replace the hole that is there but to give you an outlet for the love you still have in your heart. I try to find one that looks nothing like the friend I just lost. It won't bring back the one who has gone on but it can help to heal the heart that bleeds for them.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Wrinkles sounds like he was a wonderful dog and friend. We had to put down one of our cats a few months ago. Dria El posted a poem about the Rainbow bridge that made me feel better (well, after I cried a river from it.) Here's the link to that thread:

I hope it helps you too.
Blessings and prayers for you and Wrinkles.

I really feel for your loss. My dog died in June, she was thirteen, and I still think of her most days. I dream about her alot too and its in dreams that I get to cuddle her again.
She is the first thing that I have loved that has died, and I can't believe how much it hurts. When we had to have her put down I cried so much that my head felt as though it would explode.
I miss her so much and know what you are going through. You have just got to be strong and think of all the good times you have shared together. If ever you want to talk you can email me.
Hope you start to feel a bit better soon.

I hate when that happens but that's the one set back when getting a pet I guess! You grow to love it soooo much you just can't say good bye!! I'm so sorry for your loss. The Goddess is taking good care of him I'm sure. Animals are lifes little blessings.

Im sorry to hear of your loss. I know how it feels. I had a St. Bernard for 12 years. He was my best friend. he died of old age while i was at school one day. It might help to know that you will feel better. it just takes a little time. you will always love your puppy just like your puppy loved you.
hope it helps,

I feel the loss you are going through.
With the loss of my dog and then my cat I went out on a quest to give a home to another animal who needed one.
To some this may sound calise but it is an incridible help to one's spirit when there is a new little friend under your feet driving you crazy because they are not trained.
The pain does not go away, ever, but it is a little easier to deal with when you don't have time to dwell on the loss as you are picking up the doo-doo your new little puppy has left on the floor for you or you are rescuing the new little kitten who has managed to claw it's way to the top of the curtains in the livingroom.
Give yourself time to grieve, but find a new friend to share your grief with.
You are not replacing a lost friend, you are making a home for a new one.
Blessings,
Let the spirit soar.

That's so sad. I have two springer spaniels and I'd be lost without them (even though they bug me so much). Seems he lived a long and happy life though. Keep smiling.

I am sorry for your loss as I understand the pain and burden of guilt you are carrying. I have had to put several of my beloved pets to sleep and felt like a monster afterwards, but you did the right thing. It is better to know that your friend is happy and free now in the summerlands, not burdened with pain or with age. The Goddess holds all creatures precious and I am sure your dog is happy and comforted by her presence. Don't let anyone tell you you are being silly for being so upset, you have every right to mourn and it won't be easy, but trust me the pain will lessen as time goes on. It may seem to be an impossible idea now, but trust me it will. You must remember that you did the right thing and not to force the healing process. Hit a pillow if you must, cry till your eyes are dry. If you need someone who will listen to you who understands then feel free to contact me. You must remember the happy times and how your friend was happy to know you as long as you did. Building a memorial to your pet and focusing on the good times helped me. So, did alot of crying. My heart goes out to you in this time. It will get better though. Stay strong.
