I love this time of the year! Guess what I'm listening to right now? :D

We have several things that we do traditionally. We have a Yule log decorating party. Then my sister will have her tree decorating party. Somewhere along the way, we go up to the mountains & cut down our tree. It's a lot of fun. We usually get a few families together and bring our sleds & hot chocolate for the kids and "special" coffees for the adults. Also, at work here, we have a Christmas party for the kids. About 250 kids usually & I buy the toys for that. Love it! The party is wonderful. We decorate a full football stadium & the kids go wild! On the 21st we have a quiet Yule dinner for just us or a few pagan-type friends. On Christmas eve, we go over to my mom's for a big family dinner. We open presents there. Eat too much, stay up way too late! On Christmas day, hubby's parents come over early. We have breakfast, open more presents. Start the turkey & stuff. On Boxing day, we rest. :ack:

Over the years, we've managed to pare down quite a bit. We only go to functions if we want to. We avoid anything that's a "must". Never do anything just 'coz you have to. So far, we've been able to blend the Christian side of things (for my family) and the pagan aspect of Christmas.

Christmas? For us it means visiting all our families - his family on Christmas Eve then staying over at my parents for that night, my Mom's family on Christmas day, and my Dad's family on New Year's Day, along with a Yule ritual and a Yule party with friends somewhere in there :). Lots of family time, big meals we help prepare, and celebration - which to me is the heart of the holidays (Christian AND Pagan)! :)

Well, it usualy means snow. Which means the buses can't get here. Which means no school. Which means it's my favorite holiday.

(Hey, Sita, want to sneek into the bus lot and replace the antifreeze with water?)

I just love christmas!! :)
this year we will be spending christmas at our home; my mother, youngest brother, grandma and grandpa are all coming over, and hopefully my other brother and his wife will come too!
It's gonna be great! I am already planning what we should serve and what decorations we will have etc :)

Of course I will celebrate yule as well, but I am not sure how yet :)

Blessings

I've always loved this time of year. I was raised mainly Italian. So every X-mas eve, my Mom would bring my bro & I to our grandparents. We'd have a great italian meal (first and last time I ever ate octopus).

Sometimes, my Dad would take me & my bro to upstate NY to his parent's house. Lots of snow, my Dad, Uncles & older cousins would go out hunting. I think in all the years (about 6) they went out, but never came home with anything.

Now, my Mom has a tree decorating party. Me, both brothers & their familes, and our friends all go every year. Get her tree, put it up, decorate it. Most times we all exchange our gifts because we usually don't see each other until after X-mas.

My Mom has been great in letting me incorporate some Pagan-y stuff in her tree. Last year, me, my best friend & 2 sis-in-laws strung popcorn & cranberries, which is sort of Pagan. This year I asked if I could put oranges stuck with cloves on it & she said sure.

I love December and the feeling we all have around this time of year. :D

For yule it's a quiet celebration and dinner, whick is usually interupted by my cousins birthday party and every pagan person we know. For xmas my family goes to my mothers and we open presents, fight, eat, complain, yell alot, you know the perfect family holiday! :)

Christmas to me is a time to be with my family even more than usual, to go over the past year and reminisce and to plan for the coming new year, :).

Love & light always,
Kristin Ann

yule rituals, parties, frolicking at the beach, trying to guess what people want for gifts (you know the people that say 'nothing' but you can imagine their face if xmas day rox up and theyve got nothing? ive got more than my share of these ppl! :) ), lots of huggles, 'good natured' family arguements, and all the rest of it.
i usually work all over xmas, but i still love it! :)
