I'm trying to find out what types of gemstones & minerals are common in the Northern parts of Europe, Germany on up ya know. What ones were commonly worn by the people and were important to the Norse gods?

The only ones I know of are Amber, Carnelian & Hematite.

Amber and gold are associated with Freya, I will have to check on the others if their is anything.

Rock Quartz was used and worn by the Jutes, Franks and Anglo-Saxons. They made balls from it and wrapped them in silver, and hung them from belts and girdles :)

The easiest thing to do though, would be to find a geology book or website on northern europe and see what was available to them.

I came across rock quartz yesterday, and that's what I'm trying to do look it up by region. :vanish:
