I'm curious about Freyja... I knew about Her before, but I kept "running into" Her name as I was looking into Slavic Gods. Then last night I had a dream with a lynx and I just found out She is often shown with one-- and in fact cats in general (And I an totally obsessed with cats).
I've read a skimmed a page ( http://valkyrietower.com/freyja.html (http://valkyrietower.com/freyja.html) ) and it says She is Norse.
Now from my "What's up with this??" thread I learned about Asatru and the blood heritage to worship the Gods...I personally don't agree with that but whatever.

Does anyone who isn't Asatru have Her as a patron or work/worship/honor Her? Or is that only done if one is Asatru or has Norse blood? (I don't know anything about Asatru, so forgive my lameness :woah: ) Oh and is it possible to honor Her while not involving the whole Norse pantheon as well?? Also, how do you work/worship/honor Her?

Yes, me. I had a strong interest in Asatru for awhile but now dance to my own drums. Freyja was my first patron and will always be with me.

Here's a ritual I wrote for her:

Reflections on the Goddess - Freyja (http://www.oymygoddess.com/shannon/reflections_freyja.htm)

Ah, so you aren't Asatru but still honor Her? Cool. I have no interest in Asatru as a full path, but some few Norse Gods and Goddesses interest me--- such as Freyja. I would love to honor Her in some way without being Asatru...

Thanks for the link, lovely ritual :)

I work with Freyja, as well, at times. She came to me...whatcha gonna do? turn down a goddess? I don't think so.

She was instrumental in bringing Rick and I together, I feel, as well. While he follows a Northern path, I DO NOT.

True, I agree with you. :). I'll see how things go.

Do you worship/honor Her in your own way or is an Asatru-like way?

Actually, I honor Her more in the Northern way because I do respect Her so that is my choice.

I visited a seax wiccan page online and was surprised to see there main god and goddess as freyya and wodin.

She has also come to myself and I was hesitatiant becus of her cultural background but then the same can be said for all the gods and goddess's.Im certainly not going to sacrife dogs to hectae just becuse that is what her cult used to do.

There are many different ways of worship and its a personal thing so go with what feels right. After all its your path

I'm not an Asatruar, but I worked with her in the past. Since I'm a great fan of "everything norse", I cared about not mixing any non-norse elements into her rites, and it worked very well :D

Now from my "What's up with this??" thread I learned about Asatru and the blood heritage to worship the Gods...I personally don't agree with that but whatever.

my personal take on that is that most people will tend to be drawn to worship the same gods their ancestors did, but that the Gods will choose whom they will.

In my experience Freyja likes sandalwood incense.

Yes indeed! Not me, but my Beloved does. He is a master of Runes, but not Asatru, and he has no Norse blood whatsoever.

Oh and is it possible to honor Her while not involving the whole Norse pantheon as well??

Again, definately! One of the things my Beloved always says is that Her name and the germanic root for 'woman' (frau) are the same - - - She is Goddess, and 'Freya' just means Goddess.

Also, how do you work/worship/honor Her?

He communes with Her, evoking Her at work to explain how and why his workings with Glamour and Desire are having the results that they do, and sometimes inadvertently invoking Her as well. That he can is one of the many reasons that I love him!

Hogwash, any heathen worth their salt will tell you you dont need to be "pure", if the gods call you they call you and you would be best inclined to listen. It matters not ethnic origin, skin color or prior religious affiliation.

See above, and you can PM or e-mail me if you like.

I personally dont go for the mixing of pantheons but thats just me.She likes gold as well as amber so if you can possibly find a way to work them into your offerings but the best way is to learn all you can about her as their is a lot of information in the lore and elsewhere you can use..

'Freya' just means Goddess.
Nope. Freya translates simply as lady, as Frey translates as lord.
