I was deep in thought and was thinking<--(Go figure :p) Is it possible to create your OWN runes. I am not saying write draw your own runes from copying another but creating, literally.
I had this WAY COOL idea about making Atlantis Runes, hehe. Puma you can help me :D And I was wondering if this were possible, just like making your own tarot decks? Or is it a Wee bit more complicated...

hey, I don't see why not! ^_^
I think divination, in any form, is about abstract symbols that mean something important to you, and that help you access your own intuition and the help of the universe around you. I mean, if the symbols are your own, perhaps they'd even hold an especially special meaning! ^_^ so why not?
oooooooouuuuuer. . . . atlantis runes. . . .

I agree with Puma Hime, go ahead! :) Although I guess it would be rather difficult and might take you awhile... Let us know how it worked out! :)

I Guess I dont really see any objections to that. Most runes which you see are adaptations of another set of runes anyways. And remember languages are constantly evolving.
However, if you were to make your own COMPLETLY origional set, I would probably not call them "RUNES" per-say. You could probably use them in the same manner as the traditional runes, however I might call them something else. The word 'Rune' refers to those Futhark's (futhark=alphabet) which evolved from one set of runes or another.
For example, you would not go and create a new set of characters and call them Italian script, or Phoenecian, or Chineese, or Hirigana, or Roman, etc. You might want to make a new name which works for you.
Also the runes which are used in divination have those symbolic meanings as part of their very core. They were (according to legend) discovered by Odin after hanging on Yggisdrill (sp?) for 9 nights and 9 days. I would take care when making your characters that if you wish to use them for divination that you instill in them, or learn from them, their true meanings.
BTW, I am really interested in how this works out for you, so tell me how it works out.
Peace

There's a thread here about runes with some links that might be useful for you. I'll see if I can find them. Also, there are on-going rune lessons here as well.

I agree. They would be a similar divination tool but not the same thing.
