BOSTON -- Antonino Randazzo was the 4-year-old son of a Sicilian fisherman when a businessman thousands of miles away bent over to secure his sailboat against a gathering storm and his wallet slipped from his back pocket into Marblehead Harbor.
That was in 1966. Nearly 40 years later, the boy and the businessman have been linked by a remarkable discovery in a netful of fish.
Randazzo, now a Gloucester fisherman, hauled in a catch this summer that contained a neatly preserved sheath of credit cards. His search for the owner of the long-forgotten wallet led him to former Dupont Co. executive James Lubeck.
In an interview Friday, Lubeck said he was stunned at how far the remains of the wallet traveled, and Randazzo's thoughtfulness at getting it back to him.
