My mother in law sent me a present today. It's a set of these cards that are based on the five elements and crystals and used for divinational purposes. There are 55 cards in the deck and they are unfornutely this horribly yucky plastic material that I doubt could energy. But anyways i was wondering if anyone has heard or used these. Cuz well I'm confused, i read tarot and did read runes (before one was broken) never even heard of these things.

I've seen the deck at the stores but didn't spend very much time looking through them. I think you're suppose to use the meaning of the crystals for divination. I'm not sure. Did it come with a booklet or something? The set I saw at the store had a little pamphlet with it.

... but they looked interesting. Give 'em a chance. And any material can be charged with energy; some just take more effort.

They sounds interesting Pheonix, and your mother in law sounds quite cool :D
I agree with Rick and Wild, give them a try, if they didnt come with a little booklet you can always do a search on the net for crystals and print of there meanings that way. I dont think it matters that they are covered in plastic ~ one of my tarot decks is laminated and I love it just the same.. so try to sit and meditate and cleanse your cards, maybe with a small ritual and then see if you connect! Cant hurt to give them a try ;)
About your broken rune ~ You can try and find a replacement by looking for something of similar size and shape then paint of the missing sigil, like a piece of wood or glass nuget or stone or cystal :D It may also be an idea to research the rune that broke and think about why it broke? Does it have a deeper meaning at all?

It came with a book that to be fair I haven't really given a chance since so far the first several chapters are filled with how crystals shed light on your life and talk of the ultimate "shiver" But I think i will give it a shot, no reason not to be open minded.
As for the rune, while it could have been divine intervention, I think it was my stupidity. I left them on the coffee table after a reading and went outside for a cigarette, leaving them in reach of my 2 yr son. :) shrugs. I'll tryt he idea about a stone though.
