i found myself working with shapeshifting a few years back when
i inadvertently found myself experiencing various landscapes within
meditation.
by learning to experience the various elements that work within landscapes
i learned how they worked together as brother and sister, and i started seeing
animals appear in various ways for example: dragonfly over flowing river and
winding ground.
wind blowing and waving tall grassy field,rabbit/hare running into field, birds in
pairs flying out of field
i have read very little on the beliefs and practices of shapeshifting and have
"as usual" tend to opt more towards just learning it and figuring it out for
myself.
i was just wondering if most people that practice this tend to find themselves
exploring landscapes first then animal shapes and forms,or if you tended more
towards animals and explored the planes/landscapes that way instead.
id also like to know what animals or landscapes tend to work best with you.

I tend to experience forest scenes, so to speak, when I work with shape-shifting. So, I have times when I run through the forest in the form of a wolf and the trees would be sun-dappled. I am more comfortable with the forest, I think, so I tend to explore my environs in the form which I feel most natural in: the wolf.

There is another place I tend to find myself at: a desert/plains landscape. Again, the form I shape-shift to is the wolf and I tend myself running across the plains, simply because I enjoy running and feeling the wind on my face and fur.

So, to answer your question: I tend more towards animals (primarily the wolf) and perhaps perceive the landscapes/scenes as such. I tend also to think myself as a forest wolf, hence my affinity with forests and forest landscapes.
