Hey all,

I just moved from ym small village to the big city and I look around expecting to see pentacles everywhere...don't see any :(. Im cuirrently at Humber college, which is in Etobicoke...and I looked through the list of groups or clubs, and nothing! I mean it's not too bad, there are occult stores close by (well reletivly if you call 40 minutes by subway close)...perhaps I came down expecting Toronto to be a huge assortment of Pagans, but alas...no...where are you?????????????????? Namaste

Well at my College there are no listed Pagan groups...there are about three for Christians though...and we're not a Christian school. It's a public average 2-year. I'm just guessing it's low-key...and word of mouth. And I have yet to meet another Pagan of any type there.

I'm sure there are tons of Pagans in Toronto. You just have to know where to look. Try Witchvox. See if you can get the "alternative" papers. Oh and Yahoo Groups sometimes have groups of city based Pagans.
For the Hindu side of things, I'm sure there is a Temple there somewhere. Try the phone book.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll hit the jackpot soon

The "Pagan Ghetto" in Toronto is in the area of St. Clair Avenue W. and Bathurst St. 109 Vaughan Rd. in that area is the home of the Occult Shop/Wiccan Church of Canada. Queen St. W downtown is somewhere you might spot a few. Also, down in The Beaches there's a store called Wiccashoppe.

Aside from that, you are unlikely to find any pagans sticking out. They are there, but they're only a small part of a city of 2 million people.

Here's a link to the Ontario listings at Witchvox (http://www.witchvox.com/vn/hm/caon.html).

There are actually a lot in the greater Toronto area. Not everyone lists at Witchvox but it is a good place to start. Contact groups, stores, etc. that are just outside Etobicoke and ask them if they can put you in touch with anyone who is actually in Etobicoke.

dont bother with witchvox, the sites pretty good for some things meeting other pagan irl isnt
one of them however.
you said that theres some pagan shops within the area,go to them put up something on there
posting boards stating that you just moved in the area and your looking to make friends.
hell im sure the owner of the occult store is more then likely a pagan,so talk to them see if they
have any classes at the occult store or if they can direct you towards a CUUPS church or
something along those lines.

That is one opinion but it's not one that I share.

I've moved a number of times -- from Kingston to Hamilton to Toronto, then down to Phoenix Arizona, and am now in Minneapolis Minnesota.

I didn't have Witchvox when I moved from Kingston to Hamilton to Toronto (that was too long ago) but Witchvox definitely helped me in connecting with people in Arizona and Minnesota. When I moved to those two places I knew NO ONE and the Pagan friends I made I met through Witchvox.

There may also be other pagans at the local UU church. Here is one in Toronto:

http://www.donheights.ca/index.htm (http://www.donheights.ca/index.htm)

Water is associated with the west, and with the fall, as you know. Their water communion ceremony will be the Sunday after next, at 10:30 am, you might want to be there for that.

If they don’t have a cuups chapter, there may be interest in starting one, or just other Pagans there to hang out with. :ringaroun Anyway, good luck-

Thankyou for ther replies...I have visited the Occult Shoppe before, but I havnt had a chance to get up there before. Although when i did go up there in July there were hundreds of little ppl walking about, was a good thing. I think im just a little desperate lol, becasue i left a good group of people up in my area and am a little home sick for that. I was thinking of going through and training to become a Highpriest in the WCC, but that takes time that right now i don't have...although it is sotmhing to think about. I have made a few friends previously through witchvox and then just got into circles, but sicne I lived soo far away (i came from a small town just outside of Owen Sound) I never got to see them often and ofcourse now that im here I've lost touch or theyre too busy. I thought I'd give a shout out here though as I know there a few from toronto here, even became good friends with soemone on here (hi Blondie :D)...but thankyou for your replies and your links, most gracious of you :D namaste

You're right Training for the 1st Degree for the Odyssean Tradition (the WCC's trad) can take as long as three years, and as of right now, after more than 20 years, there is only one 3rd other than the tradition's founders, and one 2nd degree. Some people have been working on their 2nd degree, their High Priesthood, for more than a decade. Bear that in mind if you want to train with them - it's no year and a day thing.

The WCC has open rituals every Sunday, if you're interested in that sort of thing - http://www.wcc.on.ca/toronto.html (http://www.wcc.on.ca/toronto.html)
