When I was a kid I loved catching bugs. No matter how thoroughly my mom explained her reasons for not wanting them in the house, I still couldnt see why I couldnt bring them in.
Now, out of all my kids, my youngest at 5 is the biggest bug fanatic!! He cant resist any bug. He doesnt care if he gets bit or stung. He even catches bees!!
Now I'm the one explaining my heart out of why I dont want the bugs in the house!! LOL
Kids and bugs...bugs, bugs everywhere!!:alol:
Please, no bugs in the house!!:veryweird

Have they tried to eat them yet? I have a couple of bug loving kids who tried
to eat some when they were younger. Just happened to look over and
saw the wings hanging out of their mouth.

My son is terrified of bugs and I have no idea why. If he sees a fly buzzing by, or sometimes just the shadow he freaks. My sister babysat him over the weekend and she had to pull the car over because there was a fly in the backseat and he was screaming in terror. Poor guy.

Apparently when I was a toddler I used to catch daddy long legs, pull their legs off and eat the abdomen.

So not appetizing!
My friends daughter is the same age as my son. She was always scared to death at even the thought of a bug....but this summer she suddenly changed! Now she likes them and as we had no clue why she hated them, now we are clueless as to why she likes them!! LOL

My wife says she did the exact same thing when she was little. Personally, I was
too busy shoving rocks up my nose to eat any bugs. :toofless:

My kids have a mom who loves catching bugs! Over the years we have had quite a zoo, and most of it I was responsible for. We had a scorpion living in a cookie jar for years.
their friends come over and see weird stuff in our house and my kids say "oh, that's just my mom's science experiments..."
I did move the tarantula off the piano and into my bedroom! I got brownie points for that.

My boys are also kinda scared of bugs. My youngest has a fit if he has to walk through ants and takes forever to make sure not one is squished by his shoes. My oldest is indifferent as long as they don't land on him. I got them a bug house and butterfly net and all, but they'd rather run around with the net thier heads than catch bugs with it, and the house is a home for rocks and grasses they see and like to collect, go figure! :whatgives

 That's funny! My 2 year old loves bugs too. He is always staring at them and trying to pick them up, which means he usually smooshes them. But, we were camping a month or so ago, and he was looking at this big black bug (almost like a beetle...not sure what it was). It was roughtly the size of a quarter. Eventually, he picks it up and is laughing at it's little legs wiggling all over, when I jokingly say to him "eat the bug"....and he doesn't even hesitate to pop that sucker right in his mouth!
That reminds me of another story. Years ago, our basement flooded, so we tossed the carpet into the back yard where it sat for a couple weeks before we took it to the dump. Well, my daughter Devin found a HUGE slug, it was easily the size of my thumb, only fatter. She proceeds to carry this slug around like it was the coolest thing, showing it to everyone, even going so far as to KISS THE SLUG! (ewww ewwww ewwwwwwww). I finally convince her to put it in the garden so it doesn't die. She then runs off to her slide, and starts screaming bloody murder!!!! I run over to see what's wrong and she's pointing at the slide yelling "It's a ladybug...get it off!!!!!" :rotfl:
