I recently purchased Faery Oracle cards and i really love them! But i am curious whether there is a difference between oracle cards and just regular tarot cards. If there is, what is it? If anyone knows...
I had always thought that it didnt really matter which type of cards were being used, it was all in the interptation. But i'm not a reader so.... I would like to be and i'll be practicing with my beautiful new deck.

It is my understanding that oracle cards are not tarot cards. They are a way to "speak" to different Magickal things, such as faeries in this case.

Oracle cards can be used to attune with the wisdom and offerings of different Magickal things... and not necessarily a form of Divination.

This is, of course, just my understanding.

On a side note, I hear they are pretty cards as well... :)

Isnt tarot used to attune with the wisdom and offerings of different Magickal things as well?
I'm not sure if i'm explaining properly cuz i've got all these questions running thru my head and i dont want to confuse you as well.
But basicly if you are using the oracle cards to "speak" to different Magickal things, who are you using the tarot cards to "speak" to?
Make any sense??

P.S. You can still use them as a form of divination though, right. I mean, you can ask questions and receive answers and read other ppls cards... This is why i asked what the difference was between the two.

I am afraid this is not my "area."

There has never been a place for tarot in my workings, and though I read alot about different subjects, I am no authority.

I am sure others are better prepared to help you out...

Honestly, from my point of view, the only real difference is tarot cards are almost always based on a 78 card deck and based loosly on "suits", while other divination decks are often more or less.

I believe they can be used in similar ways, divination, "speaking" etc., but again, I am not adept in their use.

Hope this helps...

I am not familiar with the cards you are speaking of, but yes I am sure they can still be very useful to you. As for this class, we are using traditional tarot decks that are mad up of major and minor arcana. Does your deck break into suits ect? They may be very similar in that they have the same "cards" just with different pictures on them. There are so many different styles of cards availiable but the majority have similar illustrations with very similar meanings. Tell us about your cards. how many are there and what are some of the titles of the cards?

I do have tarot cards. I have the voyager cards but i feel like i connect more with my new cards, the oracle cards.
I think there are 64 cards that have been "broken" down into sections (suits?), The Singers of the Realms, The Sidhe, Faery Guides and Guardians, The Help-Line Troupe, and The Faery Challengers.
Some of the titles on the cards are similiar, such as Death (actually, now that i think about it that may be the only one lol). There is also The Faery Who Was Kissed by the Pixies, The Friends, Himself, Solus, Faery Godmother..etc.. I dont think these cards would work for the class aspect but like i said, i do have voyager tarot as well. But like most ppl i have a favorite deck.
What is your favorite deck?
