Was it said where these trucks came from? I know here in Montgomery, there is a huge fleet of trucks filled with supplies waiting to head over there, if they haven't already. They were waiting for things to settle down more so they wouldn't get attacked or shot at. I guess they needed the all clear to go through too.

I was hoping that MSNBC's scathing coverage of the "help" these people were receiving would light some fires under some beurocratic butts, and maybe it really did.

These people are getting help as quick as they allow it. FEMA was on stand by and said they would not go in until it was safer. Same with Red Cross. I understand the frustration, but they are doing all they can among the few idiots out there who are causing more trouble along with all the crap they are going through.

part of the delay was security concerns, this is why we saw all those troups move in concert with the trucks...

Id hate to think this was intentionally orchestrated to coincide with the President's visit today but that is a non issue I guess :whatgives:

I watched Ted Koppel hold the head honcho of FEMA's feet to the fire last night. That probably has something to do with it! :muwaha: Nothing like being embarrassed on national television....

They wont of had to worry about security if they would of been dropping pallets of food and water all along.
Especially since those people were told to go there and many were taken there and dumped.
Shame for some its to late.
Thanks goodness no more will die from thirst or hunger.

Yep. I didnt believe it until I seen it all over the news and it didnt even look like America, it looked like something in some other poor country. This should have been better organized. Im glad their governor/mayor (whoever he is) went off on the radio like that, someone needed to.

Thank god!!! You're right Shanti. I can't imagine being one of those mothers holding her dying baby...I think I would kill myself if that happened. I can barely handle the thought of it.

Would have been easier to drop off those pallets if the choppers weren't taking gunfire.

yes, also....
If you drop a pallate of food and water into a crowd like that with no one to organize things on the ground, you only create more problems...

people stampedeing to get the stuff, fights breaking out, and people getting hurt posibly killed...
those people were all desperate... and in Survival Mode...

the military did the right thing..... Secure the area and then bring in the supplies...

on the subject of looting, they set up a temporary holding facility to house NEW ARRESTS, that is, people arrested from today on... after help arrived... those people will be facing federal charges..

help is there, there is no need or excuse for looting anyore.
