This is driving me absolutely crazy! My youngest is 2, and at times, he can just push my buttons til I explode. Then, he makes the cutest face or gesture, and I just can't be mad at him! :goodgrief

I'm sure this happens to other parents out there too. Last night for instance, he took forever to lie down for bed. You'd lay him down and 10 minutes later, he'd peek around the corner with this big ole grin and say "Hi mommy". I'd point and say get back to bed....10 minutes later, he'd be hiding behind a chair, peek his head around and say "I wuv you mommy". FINALLY, I get him to bed, and I *think* he's asleep, so I go to bed. I'm perfectly asleep when I get woken up by a sound. This is a familar sound, but as I am SLEEPING I am unable to identify it. So, I sit up and look over at my bedroom door. There is my little angle holding a pump-up water gun, and he's pumping it up (it was empty, but that was the sound I recognized). He just looks up at me, smiles the cutest smile and says "Hi Mommy!"...I look at the clock...It's freaking Midnight! :flamer:

What the heck do you do when you want to be angry but your kids are just too darn cute? :whatgives

You give them a big hug, fill the water gun with water, run out side at midnight and have a squirt gun fight.....

I am not sure if angry is what you need to be. Maybe firm is the right word? My kids are darn cute too, and I can't stay angry at them, but I can still make them do what I say, know what I mean?

Yeah, my little cousin is like this. You just have to ignore the cuteness of it, instead of thinking "aww that's so cute," think "he's manipulating me." Becuase really that's what it is. He may "wuv" you but that has nothing to do with it. He just wants to get his way and stay up.
*Please* be firm with him now, or later in life he'll be in for a rude awakening.

Sounds about right on. I know how you feel though. Gage knows when to turn it on, and when to be the most pitiful too. Parenting is hard.

Yes, firm is a much better word than angry. It's just so frustrating when I am attempting to be firm, and they do something so cute, I smile. Because then, it's all over with! They know they've won....

I agree with Shanti though, they definately out-grow it. Because my 8 and 9 year olds are not cute at all. :p

Yes, my blessed pumpkin got me up at 4am this morning. A whole hour before I had to be up. Just when I thought I was going to pop a vein she leaned up against me, put her little hand on my face and hugged me.

So, I sit here, eyes red and tired out my gord, but somewhat happy.
