I have a tarot deck from about 1993 that was given to me by a friend that he used very little. I've used the cards myself, back then that is, before I was on my current path. My question is if my aura is on the deck now, or if I need to do something to "purify" them, or if they shouldn't be used by myself, since they were originally someone else's? I've been given the suggestion to set the deck out under a full moon for cleansing.

Ground....

Hold the deck without looking at it and see how you feel, how the deck feels....if it feels anything.....

If the deck feels 'icky' or 'yucky' or 'creepy' (etc), then, yeah, you need to cleanse it (see below). Do a reading on the outcome of something that you already know the answer to, and see if the 'answer' in the reading feels 'slanted' or 'skewed' in any way. If so it needs to be cleansed.
If not, it's time to initialize your deck, not just get your 'aura on it', but get into it in every way, and get it into your life - - - order the deck, and go thru, card by card, seeing yourself as the main figure in each card (gender doesn't matter so much, gender indicates more about attitude than proclivities in this case), end by making some kind of agreement/ oath/ dedication to reading truly and not shirking from delivering difficult messages.

Cleansing a deck:
1) Wrap it in fabric and put the entire wrapped package into a contyainer of salt, away from all light, and leave it there for three days;
2) Get it out of the salt, unwrap it, make sure that there is no salt anywhere on any card, and check it again to see if it still needs cleansing;
3) If so, put some fabric down on a flat surface and 'sprinkle' about a 1/4 inch depth of salt over it in an area about 2 cards wide and 1.5 cards tall,, take each card in turn, lay it gently face down onto the salt and lay your hand over the card, and ground,, then pick it up, brush it off, and stack it seperate from the uncleansed cards;
4) Make sure that there is no salt anywhere on any card, and check it again to see if it still needs cleansing;
5) If so, turn off your smoke detector, make sure that the area is well-ventilated, get a trivet, a saucepan, a lighter, and some rubbing alcohol (do not get things much larger than a saucepan, and by no means go up to size of a 55-gallon drum!),, put the salt and rubbing alcohol in the saucepan, put the saucepan on the trivet, place the cards from the deck about 3' - 10' away from the saucepan, all spread out, and light the rubbing alcohol - - - it should take 5 - 10 minutes to burn down....make sure afterward to do some sort of psychic energizing technique on yourself (since a small container of burning salt negates both positive and negative energies in about a 30' radius), and re-initialize the cards;
6) make sure that there is no salt anywhere on any card, and check it again to see if it still needs cleansing;
7) If so, I'd just go buy a new deck....some things are unrecoverable.
