I would make some, but my father in law buys this really strange blend, and it always comes out tasting like rocket fuel... Besides that, I have to be up early tomorrow to go to NYC and coffee would make sure that I would be up all night.

Honey, coffee is what makes the world go round! I'm very strong in my belief that even the Morrigan doesn't "do her rounds" without a big ole mug'o mud first thing!

And don't worry, mine always tastes like rocket fuel too...

Hahahahaha! :)

We used to make the worst coffee known to man in my faculty society in university. But when you're living in a state of constant sleep deprivation, you would drink pretty much anything containing caffiene (the ole blood in the caffiene stream thing). We called it "bad ass coffee", 'cause trust me, it earned that name, and how! (stomach twitches just thinking about it *shiver*)

A local donut shop used to have the best wake me up coffee...long before Starbucks came to be. I don't know what it was.....but I always used it for roadtrips. You could order the 20 ounce cup, and it never tasted too strong or bitter...but after about 30 minutes of sipping...you could literally feel the capillary flush work its way up your arms:)....Alas...new owners...new coffee..and the end of a local legend.

When I was a 2nd Shift CNA, we went through the coffee! There was this one man there who made The Best Coffee! In our opinion, it wasn't good coffee if it didn't pour itself into your cup and smack you around a couple of times before jumping into your mouth. 8O :D

I think i'd preferred rocket fuel to the coffee my mum made when i was little!
She used to get Camp coffee - if you've never had that in the states it's a thick liquid coffee and chicory essence - absolutely revolting!!!! Thats probably why i drink tea now!

Oh, you wouldn't perchance have any scones to serve with the tea, would you Lady Rowan? You are such a delightful hostess! :)

Hmmm, methinks another silly thread entitled "Lady Rowan's Tea Room might be in order? ;)

I luuuuuv coffee!! Especially with chocolate in it. If it's chocolate and coffee, I'm there.

Oh, and who else thinks McDonald's "gourmet" coffee is the most disgusting stuff ever? Made me want to puke.

Yay!!! Coffee is highly esteemed in my household, as is tea, but nothing beats a good cuppa joe first thing. Caramel or Snickerdoodle blends are a couple of my favorites. I drink a triple shot latte almost every day. Probably not too good for the nerves, but does wonders for my inititative!!! :D

I need to own stock in starbucks. During the week I get a Venti 5 shot soy Iced Latte and on the weekend a Venti 5 shot soy Iced white mocha. Even my daughter is addicted. She insisits she gets 5 shots as well. Of course she does not get caffine but it is funny how much they catch on to. Someone needs to come up with a coffee Goddess. She would have a very prominant place in my home.

Caffeina is rumoured to be a Roman goddess of coffee and other caffeinated drinks or foods, but popular thought is that she is a "found" goddess. She is often represented as a beautiful woman rising from a coffee cup, inspirating energy and creativity in her devotees. Her power is such that without moderation, she may give so much creativity that it may become nervous energy or anxiety!

From Astrology.com

A shot of Astrological insight ...(coffee, anyone?)

Aries: First in line, first out the door -- a triple shot of espresso, and the Ram is off and running.
Taurus: Cappucino -- earthy simplicity wrapped in luxury for the ruler of the material world.
Gemini: Always of two opinions (and more than ready to share them), Gemini settles on a double latte -- half decaf, half regular.
Cancer: Cozy Cancer is right at home with a mocha -- all the comfort of cocoa.
Leo: Perfect presentation with enough kick to get the whole group going: macchiato.
Virgo: Precision is the only way: Virgo prefers Caffe Americano (regular house coffee is not an acceptable substitute).
Libra: No need to tip the scales -- Libra strikes a balance with Café au Lait.
Scorpio: Never prone to self-denial, Scorpio opts for all the sensuality of a breve latte -- one can barely taste the coffee, but isn't subtlety the name of the game?
Sagittarius: An iced caramel latte in the dead of winter seems correct to the Zodiac's thrill seeker.
Capricorn: Always efficient, Capricorn has found that a shot of espresso in one's coffee gets the job done ... and then some.
Aquarius: Organic raspberry tea is a refreshing alternative to coffee -- it transcends the boundaries of modern society, deeming caffeine unnecessary.
Pisces: Someday, Chai will replace coffee entirely, and Pisces will be ahead of us all -- meanwhile, they can sit back calmly, ready to ride the wave of the future.

What's a breve latte?

Becoming

First, the basics, most espresso beverages have a base of milk. Whole milk is latté. Half & half is breve. Heavy cream is crème. With whip cream is con panna. Having something dry means only foamed milk, no liquid. You can also have a rice latté or a soy latté instead of regular milk.
Then you add the espresso, or caffé. One shot is equal to one ounce. If you order an espresso, you will get a one ounce shot of espresso in a demitasse, which is French for half-cup and usually holds about three ounces. An espresso macchiato is the shot of espresso with foam on top, and espresso crème is espresso with an ounce of heavy cream. Whether it be a shot of espresso or a shot of a flavored syrup, one shot is one ounce. In a short (small) or a tall (medium) drink there will usually be two shots of espresso, which is called a double or doppio. The larger sizes (grande or venti) would contain a triple, or three shots. And for the daring, a quad would be four shots.
A caffé latté is steamed whole milk and espresso. A caffé breve would be steamed half and half with espresso, very rich; it is my favorite drink. It is okay to leave off the caffé part (i.e. I’ll have a latté) because they assume you are not asking for just a cup of steamed milk, but need some caffeine to get you going! The same goes for a mocha, which just means chocolate, but if you ask for a mocha they will assume you are asking for a mocha caffé latté, not just chocolate. A cappuccino is usually 1/3 espresso, 1/3 milk, and 1/3 foam. A dry cappuccino is made with espresso and foam only. Caffé au lait is drip brewed coffee with steamed milk. An Americano is espresso with hot water; similar to drip coffee, but with a little different flavor.

Hehehe. No. I simply am addicted, without hope, might I add. The last place I worked had a small coffee shop accross the way, and when I started, I was the only one going accross to get my daily fix. By the time I left, we had regular coffee runs twice a day. It took two people just to bring all of the coffee back over to our workplace!! Those coffee shop gals loved us almost as much as we loved them. Thank goodness for that wonderful, versitile beverage. :heartthro :javaswim:

Wow. Holy thread necromancy, batman....

On a related note.... I don't drink coffee unless it is in latte form. I drink it once a month....maybe. Starbucks coffee is just too strong for me. I've taken to ordering their decaf because its not so bitter.

God, i can't live without Starbucks. And I know their prices are ridiculous, but I think its a fair bargain. I can get a Venti no-water soy chai latte, two donuts, and a candy bar with a $5 bill. Works for me ;-)
