huh...well..trying to dissect it, it looks a bit like a cauldron, but oddly..like horns, or a cresent moon. But..what is with the hammer, or nail thing? Don't know..hmm.

My guess was a variation of the Russian hammer & sickle also. Can I ask where you saw it? That might help.

it doesn't look masonic and i don't remember ever seeing it as a variant communist symbol (their "hammer and sickle" is supposed to symbolize the union of peasants and workers) it looks to me vaguely like a hammer and pot but the reference escapes me.
