hi, my name is gwen and i am new to the path. last week i posted my first message about spells. i want to thank everyone for their response. it helped. i must be the only wiccan in salem, virginia. i havent, been able to locate anyone local, so i,ve tried to email a few people on the web, but get no response. sometimes it gets kind of lonely not having anyone to discuss my new found beliefs with. i am 46yrs. old , am married and have one grown son. he and his girlfriend live with my husband and i. we have 3dogs,4cats, and a ferret. i feel very drawn to animals, always have.when i was 16 i became one of jehovah,s witness. and remained so until i was 30. if any of you all are familiar with the witness,s you know they are a very, very strict religion! they are one of the few mainstream religions that won,t celebrate any of the major holidays. its rather funny in a way, they wouldn,t celebrate any holidays because they said they were all of pagan origin, and that christians couldn,t have anything to do with anything non-christian. so here i am years later, becoming a pagan, how ironic. i was never happy trying to be a christian, i could never get it right. but i am very, very, happy about my new faith! at last i have found some peace,and i would very much like to have some friends to go with it.

thanks, bluebear for your kind advice. it doesn,t matter that you,re in texas, and i,m in virginia. but if you don,t mind i would kind of like to know who i,m talking to. if you read my second post
i gave some inf. about myself. if you,re not comfortable with that its o.k. my family has mixed feelings about my new faith. my mother is opposed, she says its the work of the devil and goes
against the bible. my younger sister says if this is what i want, thats fine. and would you believe my husband , who is very conservative, thinks its alright. he says he knows i have a good heart and wouldn,t do anything to hurt anyone, he even asked me to do a spell for him about his job. when i first started studying i didn,t realzie there was so much to learn! but i am very eager to learn it all. well i have to go, looking forward to hearing from you. blessings, gwen

I am new to Virigina and also new to the path. It is hard to find people that have the same interests as we do. I know how it is to change religions. I was a christain and never quite "fit in" myself. I always had a different believe even then. I remember when I mentioned "reincarnation" and I thought that I said something nasty. If you like you can email me and maybe we can trade knowledge or even just talk about the Pagan way. All my friends are back in Michigan and the only person I have to talk to is my husband who supports me all the way however he doesn't partake when I "do my thing" as he calls it. ;0) Have a great day!!
