a thread about clothes prompted this... just fyi

what's your um... what's the word... your style i guess... how do you dress?

me, i look like an ad for a campus area thrift store most of the time
i wear (almost exclusively) vintage ringer tees, or band tee shirts, hoodies, worn out jeans, courdoroy pants (when i can find them long enough),jncos, long crazy skirts, tennis shoes, flip flops, or my wonderfully old and broken in sketchers boots, i usually carry a big messenger bag instead of a purse, i have an insane bed-head hair cut, it's short, and it sticks out in every possible direction in the back.... but it's normally somewhat neat in the front . i wear black frame glasses (they're armani, but because i liked them, not because of the name), and, i normally don't use a drop of makeup... just got tired of it i guess.... well, unless you count lip balm as makeup

Like everyone else, I like to be individual... so I like getting second hand stuff like t shirts, jeans and jackets from second hand stores and customising them a bit; bleaching them, modifying them a bit to suit me; I don't do it to stand out (I don't like standing out), but just to put a bit of me into it, if you see what I mean.

And oddly enough I don't use much makeup either.

I'm totally trashy. Torn jeans, old washed out t-shirt. Usually my "long-term borrowed" HIM shirt now adays. A little metal, a little 70's rock... usually black eyeliner and dark lipstick to signal my love for the more "dramatic" aspects of life. :hrmm:
I don't really have enough money to fully express my style, I'm trying though. I'm more about personal charisma anyway.

in one word? Bright :nyah:
This is the newest photo of me, and you can see how I always wear my hair. I usually wear at least one item of orange clothing - either my orange leather biker jacket, or an orange tshirt, or...! _wiz_
bright=cheery imo :elf:

Except when I'm at work of course... then I have to "tone down" :seehearsp then I wear a suit  which is so not me.

edit: oh, and I have wine-red leather shoes. Yes shoes, not boots...the kind that dolls wear (http://www.emilysgifts.com/dollclothes/shoes1.jpg). And I usually wear multicoloured socks with them :heybaby: Theyre faaaaabulous darling ;)

My fashion changes on a daily basis....one day I can be wearing t-shirt and jeans with a blazer, the next I'm wearing all black with leather trenchcoat.....people find that odd but hey its life and you only get once in your life to try something else......so where are those thongs? HA HA! :fpartay: But really I class myself as alternative fashion.....if other people are wearing it then I don't like it much.....I don't like to attract attention but I do like my alternative choice of clothes.....today I'm wearing a Lonsdale Red t-shirt, blue jeans, shoes and black blazer!

:hmmmmm:
I like to wear shirts that show my figure. I try to stay away from baggy t-shirts or sweaters ever since loosing 60 lbs. _handclapp
I love jeans. Anything with alot of style. Dark jeans are my fav.
I like little jackets that dont quite hit the waste and put broaches on them. My bf bought me a pink rinstone one for my blue cord jacket and its my fav jacket now hehe. I love high heels or leather boots with zippers. I refuse to wear runners unless Im working out

Hmmm what's my fashion style? Fashion? Um what's that?

Well for the most part you will usualy find me in anyone of my 30 odd different crushed velvet dresses, in a veriaty of colours and one or other of my 7 different types of boots. My whole wardrobe comes from second hand shops including my boots. If I'm not in a dress then I'm in bootleg trousers with a strappy top or my latest second skin which is a pare of huge flares in different coloured denium with some kind of strappy top and of course my every faithful boots. I don't generaly put a scrap of make-up on.

Today however you will mostly find me without a stitch on since my son is at school and I don't have to go any place

In this one its one of my other pritty dresses with boots, but really so long as I can put boots with it I'm happy :D

You name it... I am a chameleon. I have a wardrobe to fit any occasion. I have flowy broomstick skirts and peasant tops, I have black leather pants and jackets, I have Ralph Lauren and Ann Taylor suits, I have gothy type dresses with schwoopy sleeves, I have my absolute favorite worn out boot-cut jeans and t-shirts or sweat shirts, I have my yoga pants and tops that I wear anywhere I dang well feel like it.

Most of the time it's t-shirts (usually the clingy babydoll style) with either long Indian skirts, jeans or khakis, with sandals or Chinese slippers. I have long black hair that's completely beyond my control, so it's usually up in a high ponytail. The only makeup I wear on a daily basis is tinted moisturizer and tinted lipbalm; I only ever really make myself up if I'm dancing.

(One of my fool coworkers came up to me one day and squealed "Oh, you're wearing the Urban Bohemian Look!" To which I replied, "No, I'm wearing the What's In My Closet Look.")

If the article of clothing is less that $20 I but it, I have NO fashion sense, and my only prerequisite is that the numbers are right, and the colours match me. ( I am an AUTUMN after all... )

congrats on loosing the weight you must feel great! :sunny:
as for me stuck in drab maternity clothes which really have no style they all look bad unless you spend an arm and leg to get the trendy ones. I just can't wait to go back to jeans and tank tops with some sort of pull over or zip up for the cold times and as for feet covers well I don't care I think I have a million shoes of some sorts but I think sandles are a tad prefered just cause the feet can breath and they come off fast if need be!

I fit no specific genre of fashion. I usually wear my worn out jeans with my converse and an AFI shirt. I never leave the house without makeup, but it's not heavy makeup. My hair is long, brown and boring. I most always wear it hanging down because it is too thick to do anything else to it.

Me too! Though I do have a basic "me" backound behind it all. I don't know what I'd call it but some have said whimsy? I love clothes with embroidery or art neuvo-ish designs on them. I'm actually kinda dumb founded right now because my style since high school has finally been high jacked and is the latest thing, I think they call it the peasent look? But I see things I love everywhere, and people who dress like me everywhere! Well sort of, I don't do the whole look, usually just a skirt or shirt paired with something practical likes jeans or a tee.

Depends on the time of year. Most of the time it's hot here, so I wear shorts. Sometimes t shirts, sometimes henleys, sometimes somthing that buttons down the from. Hiking boots. LAtely I've taken to wearing Hawaiin shirts unbuttoned over a t shirt of some sort. In cooler weather it'll be blue jeans. Shirts will remain the same, only with long sleeves. Generally favor long coats. I have a western style duster and a long black coat modeled on the one Kurt Russell wore in "Tombstone." I also have a very beat up leather flight jacket and a green army field coat. If I'm outside I'll probably have sunglasses on. Not for style, but because the glare of sunlight hurts my eyes. I almost always wear earth tones.

Work has its own dress code that I must adhere to.

September 12th, 2005, 12:54 PM
For me, it's usually jeans, hiking boots, and a shirt to suit the weather. This summer, my most-worn shirt was a short-sleeved khaki safari shirt that I picked up at a Goodwill store for $1. When it's cooler, I'll wear long sleeved button down the front shirts of various thicknesses, depending on temperature. If it's really cold, I'll throw a sweater on over that.

Baggy pants, tank-tops with usually a hoodie or vest overtop and stompy boots. All black...or red and black. It's a rare occasion I wear any other colours.
In the fall/winter I tend to swap the hoodies for my trenchcoat or cop-esque jacket.

 Gangsta gangsta  Just kidding, kinda. I'm more of the older skater type with baggy jeans, not usually sagged. I love weird t-shirts like my "if found drunk or unconscious, please return to:" then you can't read any of the handwriting. I have a very business casual side a lot too. When I disc golf or play real golf, it's usually express cargo shorts with a collared shirt, or izod plaid prints, I think that's what they're called. I have many different facades for many different occasions. I rock the huge beard and shaved head. Two tats, no piercings. I wear my hats tilted to the left, as old habits die hard. At work I'm a dockers and polo kind of guy.

Style? Not familiar with that. I'm currently wearing black hi-top Converse and very old black jeans with the crotch ripped out. And that's all. I prefer darker clothes and I like them worn and lived in. When I need new clothes (a rare event) I usually go to Goodwill or vintage stores or military surplus stores. When not wearing rags I bust out the nice creased black pants and black suit jacket with a fancy shirt (my favorite is a black and dark purple paisley) and a nice dark tie. I recently considered dressing more fashionably and took a look at a mens style magazine. What a bunch of crap.

So, if there is a word for this "style," I don't know what it is. Haute Homeless Couture? Don't know, don't care. I'm comfortable.

but in all seriousness...
1. yay, for comfort!
2. I usually dress for comfort, which is not easy, because my skin is verrry sensitive to a lot of different materials, so it has to "feel" a certain way... I only wear makeup and nice clothes if I'm going out somewhere, or don't have to keep them on for long... :heybaby:
and
last but not least:
3. Semi, do the nice creased black pants have a crotch? (lol, by the way, I just read that as greased...lmao...)
okay, so when I said in all seriousness, maybe I wasn't ... :fpartyhat

Jean and t-shirts, usually black, but sometimes I wear blue jeans, with my black spike flip-flops, and I just made a spike ponytail sleeve so that's now my new favorite hair accessory. Usually in summer I'll wear cropped jeans to show off my tats

I dont have a praticular style per se...I change up my looks alot, just whatever suits my personality. I got that who activist/tomboy/i'm too busy with the world to 'pretty' myself up look going on most of the time, jeans, cargo/khakis, sneakers or boots, tshirt, simple white tank, and an green utility jacket, or khaki color. Make up free, and hair is normally up in a ponytail. Then I have my 'ethnic' look, my 'bohemian' look, my 'preppy' look, my 'suedo intellectual' look, my 'class gal' look, and my 'earthy/gyspy/western' thing going.

I like to mix my style up...my fave shoes are my black and purple hi top converse, and I like to usually wear a band tshirt, usually MSI, MCR, The Ataris, Evanescence, CoF, etc, or a gothy top, or a flowy girly top and some form of jeans, but I like my goth pants and combat boots and stuff too... usual jewelry is what ever necklace i feel like, something beaded or a crystal point..my leather name bracelt, complete with spikes, beaded bracelet, sandalwood mala, wristband and moonstone ring :) and earrings :D

I guess a label for me would be goth cake, girly frosting, and punk/emo sprinkles lol

Mostly my stuff is sort of hippy/gothic, on the hippy side I have cord trousers, loads of tie dyed stuff, lots of hippy skirts and rock t-shirts and that kind of thing (for every day being a mum jobs etc), then I have loads of velvet, lace trim, wench tops, corset tops, waspie that sort of thing for the gothy streak in me (my getting dressed up for a night out wardrobe)...mostly I pick clothes for practicality (the waspie gets an airing about twice a year for gigs, so that doesn't count:crazylaug ), so stuff that is comfy and cheap, mostly from car boot sales, ebay and charity shops...I love a good rummage!!:toofless:

My favourite item of clothing is my demonia platform shoes...LOVE THEM...they have a 6 inch heel, but because it is a platform sole it feels the same as walking in flatties, and as I am only 5ft 4 I can use those few extra inches:spinnysmi ! They have a big star cut through the heel and get a few odd looks but I adore them anyway! I got them from ebay for less than 1/2 the retail price of them over here, including p&p, so they were a proper bargain too!:)

I also have to confess that I don't own a single pair of jeans...they just don't suit me, I can never find them to fit me properly:( , and I don't find them comfy (probably cos they never fit properly but oh well...:weirdsmil )

Hmmm... usually you will find me in jeans, some sort of t-shirt, and skate sneakers (I think they look better with pants than other types of sneakers do). But I also like cords, bright sweaters and bright, exciting kneesocks, fun hats, knitted bags, flip flops and long skirts. I really have no idea how to describe it, but I expect I look pretty regular... except for when I colour my hair an unnatural colour.

depends on the day but usually black moleskins and a black top around the house.. other then that its black skirts long or short not too picky, long striped socks or fishnets doc's lace or fishnet gloves black tops.. often with the morticia style sleeves.. in summer I have to cover up completely or i get sick so its always long skirts or moleskins, tops with high collars and long sleeves and/or gloves.. I never go anywhere without sun glasses even on cloudy days and in summer i have to use an umbrella
i used to always wear make-up but since having my daughter i just don't have time anymore..
i used to turn heads but now everyone is used to me :)

Fashion. Well my kid doesn't think I have any. Who knows? I don't really think about it.

Work is usually a nice top and skirt. Sometimes Khakis and a nice top. Long skirts and turtle necks and sweaters in the winter.

I also wear Tony Stewart stuff. His racing jacket is the best I've had for a winter jacket in a long while. It has cuffs that don't let the winter wind in.

For casual wear? Sometimes jeans and tees. Sometimes capris and a nice top. Depends on how caus it's supposed to be. My work at times if you volunteer provides the typical L.L. Bean (izod type shirt) with the company logo on it.

Depends on the situation.

You've just about described me to a "T", minus that tee's. In the summer I live in spaghetti strap tank tops, and in the fall/winter, sweaters of all funky kinds. And yes, I even wear the black frame glasses, but mine are Ralph Lauren (also for the look, not the name). And makeup, shmakeup. Rarely do I wear it. Blech. When I quit wearing so much of it, my eyes quit burning and my face felt fresh and clean all the time. I use only Burts Bees products and my favorite is their tinted lip balm.

I don't have a style and you can't prove that I do!!

To work, it's business casual. Slacks, shirts with buttons, a belt, and nice leather shoes. (By nice I mean cheap.)

But what's really neat is when I get home, I go hippy. And I'm not a hippy, not really.

I wear a lot of tie-die stuff--below is a pic of me at the Indy 500. I wear blue jeans a lot (but not any that look like bell bottoms) and my hair is very long. In fact, I recently started a job at an insurance company and cut eight inches off my hair--and it still hangs almost to the middle of my back. I look sooooo hippy.

But I certainly don't feel hippie. Not even when I smoke reefer.

Well... either blue jeans and an old t-shirt (the older and more torn up the better), with either my uniform boots (I love my boots, I'd wear them in suits if I could get away with it.) cause they look good with what I wear. Or I'll wear all black. I.E. uber bbaggy pants that *gasp* fit my waist! Yes, my baggy pants show nothing of the boxers I wear, what a novel idea, no? Black fishnet shirt that I normally will not couple with another shirt, unless it is cold enough to wear two shirts. Or cut up plaid pants with a bunch of bondage straps, wife beater and a black zip up hoodie with a bunch of patches and safety pins on it.

So yeah, that is what I normaly wear. Oh yeah, and the black outfit? Yeah, I wear at least eye liner with it. Lipstick is for the weekends only when I have Sunday to make sure I got it all off from the day before so that Monday they can't yell at me for wearing make up in uniform. That is my norm. Suits are rare and only for very special occasions, but I wear a double breasted w/ the vest, all black w/ white shirt, nice leather shoes and black tie. I don't have a Fedora to wear with my suit yet, so no hat. And my hair is currently dyed black.

I dont give a darn what I wear. My cloths change with my moods.

What I wont wear, cloths that...

squeeze, constrict, and/or cut off air and/or blood circulation!

take time to put on or remove!

let parts of me hanging out that I dont want hanging!

that make my butt look flatter than it is or my boobs bigger than they already are!

allow other to see things I dont want to show!

that leave marks that look like crisscrossed ropes!

and anything that crackles, squeeks or makes any darn noise when moving!

:)
