Hi i've been interested in shamanic paths for a while and i was wondering if anyone here practiced it or knew anything about it, i'd like to know about what shaman's do and also i heard they enter a trance but how do you exactly do that, also can you combine shamanic elements with other religions? Also how do shamans enter other worlds? has anyone ever done it and what has your experience been like?
Sorry if there are a lot of questions but i'm just very interested in this,
Thanks for any help you can give me :)

hm...i dont know if this is consider a shaman but I think my grandpa was on that path once. He has a healing touch you can say. He use to be buddhis but converted to christianity...didnt say why exactly...just did. When I was younger for certain holidays, weddings, funerals, etc. He'd always be the one that people go to for blessings, prayers, and what not. One time my mom was out in the backyard tending the garden and she got bit by a snake. Her wrist started swelling up a bit, she would've gone to the doctor but she went to my grandpa first. He said a blessing/chant of some sort, put some liquid stuff on my moms wrist and started rubbing it, he did it for a good 5mins maybe 10. Eventually, the swelling went down and my mom didnt have to go to the doctor, she was okay. He doesnt do that sort of stuff anymore.
I'm not sure about the trance thing though, he use to meditate alot...now he doesnt do that either.
Most shamans from what I've learned do healings, blessings, and some foresee the future?

Yes I do but I cant share any 'hows' as I didnt learn it, I was given the ability. It just took time to learn to understand it.
As for otherworlds and shifting...that too I can not share as its purpose is only as given and not for sharing unless that is its purpose for that particular journey.
For me every journey has a purpose that is to be followed.
Sorry I cant be of help.
I do believe if your meant to do something, you will, with or without info in advance. That is my opinion. :)

The shamans believe in a magical essece called "ju-ju" Ju-jumen or ju-juwomen are the ones that Western society calls the witchdoctors. I dont know much about ju-ju itself but there are plenty of websites that can help

These are some that can help you. I do know about how shamans enter the spiritual realm, but you may not want to try it out because its very dangerous
It involves preparing a special ceremonial brew made from the Datura planet (species datura ). Otherwise known as Devil's Apple, Thorn Apple, Jimmson Weed, etc. Every part of the plan contains chemicals that rival the concentration of 100 drops of LSD. The tea itself is made to specifically dilute and give flavor to the plant so it tastes good and won't kill you. From there I dont know anything about the spirit realm itself because I've never been tiere or tried the brew myself. Unless you study for a long time and are really serious about shamanism i wold advise against it. Its extremely dangerous and could send you to the spirit realm permenantly.
I hope i was of some help

This is only one perspective.
Some people as myself never use any thing to induce trance. For some its a natural ability, some its learned from another, and some its learned in other ways.
Shamanism is ancient. Its spans the tribes over the entire globe. It has many aspects and different systems.
Traditional shamanism has many variables.
I personally disagree, for myself only with all you posted here, PropheticMonkey. I would never use anything other than music! I dont use your terminology either. There are many differant shamans in the world. With many differant styles, systems and purposes and beliefs.
This link provides a good perspective of variety in cultural, traditional shamanim. http://www.faqs.org/faqs/shamanism/overview/
I advice to search and read all you can. Begin with anthropology if you want to know the roots of shamanism.
