probably a stupid question.....something I probably missed on CNN, but.....

In the footage they have been showing of the water going back out the levees into Lake Pontchatrain, there is an extreem amount of foam/bubbles/suds looking stuff floating on either side of the levee.

What is that??:hmmmmm:

I'm certainly no authority, but I've been told it's the result of pollutants in the water when this happens in the Mississippi. This is stuff like algae protein and detergents, all sorts of stuff.

I know it happens in other places when fresh water pours into salt water, too.

Well http://photobucket.com/albums/v228/VroomBroom/Smilies/th_doh.gif I should have thought of the one reason, fresh into salt. We have the happen here where a river runs into the Pacific

Thanks paygun!

I have a question...
The water in NO was salt water from the lake...so what does fresh water have to do with anything?
Paper mills create a awful yellow foam when they discharge the used water back into the rivers.
Pollution, thats all it is in NO.
