today while I was out hiking. Me, Eshallet, my son & Eshallet's friend went out hiking today. We were heading down this trail and there was a deer right at the edge of the trail. She didn't bolt or anything!!! We had Eshallet's dog with us, but they didn't seem scared of each other at all. We just stood there and watched her for like 5 minutes.
I was smiling the rest of the way. It seems whenever I go hiking in this particular park, I always find a neat tresure on the trail. Arrowheads, neat colored leaves, cool rocks. This time it was a deer. I'm positive it was the Horned One's way of acknowledging my presence there. We hiked all over the park. It was such a nice day and such a great way to burn of that big Thanksgiving meal! :D

:sunny: It's all in the wonderful way you look at things. Some people could go on the same trail and come out saying how boring, dirty, etc... it was. You have an above average outlook. Don't let it leave you. :sunny:

How neat!! I find that by acknowleding the presence of the Lady and Lord, seems like the wildlife comes closer.
Of course, if I hike around here, I don't want the *big* wildlife to come to close. I live in Bear Country NJ :D
I am glad you had a great hike!

 Ya know, my son kept saying: "Ya know mom if Uncle D was here, he'd be hollering to get his bow." I told him if Uncle D was there, the deer wouldn't of showed up in the first place.

Here in green country, we get tons! Very nice looking deer, beautiful does, pretty cute little fawns and big bucks.
Also the rare bear,(sorry for the rhyme)and cougars or Mt. Lions whichever you prefer. And let me tell you, when you hear a Mt.
Lion scream at night it will raise the hairs on the back of your neck! Sounds like a woman screaming... brrrr.

Yeah, Flar we gets LOTS & LOTS of deer around here. Up until this past summer, they were hanging out in my back yard all the time. They put in a gas line right behind my house, so the deer have stayed away. :(
We have an occassional bear too, but they mostly live by Chryssi1. I know this because my son's dad lives where she does & apparently theres a bear that comes down to the neighborhood for daily feedings.

very cool...I love when that happens. Last time I saw deer was at Robert Moses State Park on LI, the deer were right on the beach at dusk!! It was beautiful...
It's funny how I live right next to the woods and don't see any deer:( Could it possibly be because a lot of my neighbors are hunters??!!  Although I do get to see a nice stuffed one in the yard across the way when I sit on my deck!!

It's too bad I can't post pictures here. For some reason, they never show up in my posts. I have some cool shots of a bear yearling that was in a tree across the street from me just this past summer. I fell in love with his paws. They had those soft looking leathery pads on them- too sweet. But when he came down from that tree- I boogied! And who knew where Mama Bear was. But I was able to get a few good pictures.
Last year, my dog woke me up growling at 2am. I looked out the window. My neighbors had a party and had two balloons tied to their lamp post and they had drooped. There were two cubs, standing on their hind legs, batting at the ballons like kittens. I loved it! I wish I had gotten a picture of that. :)
Laiste- we have a neighbor down the street with one of those "deers" in their yard. My kids would get all excited at first thinking they had seen a real deer! :p Personally, those forms creep me out- being the non-hunter I am. :D
