Asheville had their Pagan Pride Day here on UNCA's campus for the first time this year. They snagged a room in the student union, set up booths, a big display of altars for the sabbats, a stage, a belly-dancing place, and other things. It was really nice--there are a LOT of pagans for this to be a city of only about 75-80,000. :D

Sounds wonderful! We had belly dancers and a drumming circle too and lots of Tarot Readers. My friend set up a booth and kept trying to get me to do some readings too.I was like I am on vacation this time I came to just enjoy! I am glad I only took a small amount of money with me! There were so many beautiful things I would have been broke. I did purchase another deck of Tarot Cards and 4 stones that were yelling to me buy me buy me buy me!!! It was great. We had a Mabon Ritual mid day and the closing Ritual was great too! :crazyman:

ours was today, it was great. it was our second annual one. i missed the first one cause i was sick. we had a great time. there were workshops, 3 rituals all of differnt paths, vendor booths, and donation bins. we had a great turn out (for the most part there was a huge marathon going on and the place where we needed to go was blocked off there were a few people that were pretty upset. parking in down town sandiego is not fun)

PPD Los Angeles was on September 11th in a huge park east of downtown. There were tons of vendors, a mainstage with dancers and singers. Drumming circles and rituals. Workshops. Two of the volunteers got handfasted at the opening ceremony.
It was my first time at a public pagan event and I had a great time. My S.O. is atheist and we rarely share anything regarding my religion, but he was excited to go to this. He wandered around and bought incense and a few snow cones. We met lots of interesting folks. :]

it must have been fun there in l. a. because it is so popular all the people from sandiego started havingtheir own. i know they happen on seperate weekends so that people and vendors can do both.

Our's is October 2nd - I'm teaching a class, generally hanging around and helping out, and currently discussing helping more significantly with programming next year.
So, yep, I'll be there. The one thing I don't like about our date is that it's a long day for a Sunday, when I need to work the next day.

I also plan to take a much more active role in helping next year. We had 2 workshops and that was it. There was a great turnout and we even had a couple of adoptable pets from the Humane Society there. The info tent took up donations for Metrolina Aids and also for Katerina and the Humane Society took donations flagged to help animal survivors of Katerina.

I went to the DC PPD. It was hot so the turnout was kind of small, but I met a lot of interesting people.

St. Louis's PPD was Saturday, and I was lucky enough to attend with two good friends of mine from school. This was the third annual PPD, so the turnout was still pretty small: around 120 people, if I remember correctly. There were several workshops, a promenade with shops selling incense, clothing, pentacles, food, and a public closing ceremony. This was my first public pagan event as well, and I had a great time! I highly recommend that, if you have the chance to go to such an event, you spend as much time there as you can!

Be sure to tell the organizers what a great time you had...as an organizer of our local PPD, it is always great to hear thanks for the extremely hard work and planning that goes into any event like this.

I surely did as I know how much hard work they put into making this a success! It was flawless and that was thanks to them having everything covered.

I am totally stoked for ours on October 2nd. The keynote speaker is one of the teachers of the priestess training I'm currently in; he's a long-time teacher/mentor of mine and an all-around wonderful guy (one of our local community's "sacred curmudgeons," as we call him). Our group is also doing a labyrinth ritual, which I could not be more excited about.
...I'm teaching a class... Hey, Jenett, what's your class? If it's not the same time as our ritual, I'll try to get to it!

I believe it's 1-2:30 [check the website]. Yep. 1-2:30. Looks like the Reclaiming ritual is at 3. I'll also probably be at the "Meet the Pagans" panel from 4-6, unless I get snagged to help with something else.
The class is the "Seeking Other Pagans: Finding a Group or Teacher" for which the title pretty much describes it. If you're free, I'd love a friendly face in the audience willing to chime in on experiences *grin*.

Sounds wonderful and I think perhaps I too would be stoked! I know you are very fond of labyrinths from some other posts! :graduate: _wiz_ :huddle:

But, yes, it was quite a lovely day. Donald (the keynote speaker) was his usual curmudgeonly self - and I got the feeling this was just the moment to give this Pagan community some curmudgeonliness! Jenett's workshop on finding a teacher or group was quite informative, even from the perspective of someone who already has a group. The ritual was excellent - lots of strong, forward facing energy ready to meet whatever challenges life has to throw at us. And I managed to explain Reclaiming well enough to the people who came by the table to ask about it that a few were interested enough to join our mailing list. My only disappointment - and it was a minor one - was that I didn't read the program carefully enough, so I missed where they said that the vendor room closed at 5, so I signed up for the 4-5 slot at the table. So I didn't get to shop. But, you know, I really don't need to be bringing any more *stuff* into my home right now, so it's not that big a loss. Still...I like looking at the pretties! Next year I'll be a better scheduler. No, really. This time for sure.

Well, I'm sorry I missed the ritual, because I'm fond of labyrinths. (On the other hand, I had a good time manning the info desk upstairs, and talking to people, so it was all good.)
Windsmith's also forgetting to mention she let me pick on her in class. *grin*

She wasn't picking on me, really. Honestly, in a class about finding community - especially given that the theme of the entire day was Community - I loved that I was able to be of use to a fellow community member!

Are there any pagan pride days in England or London, specifically?

Are there any pagan pride days in England or London, specifically?
I didn't see any Pagan Pride planned in the UK (at least not listed on the Pagan Pride website: http://www.paganpride.org/index1.html (http://www.paganpride.org/index1.html) )
However, on 5 November 2005 there is a conference/festival called Witchfest. It's going to be at Fairfield Halls, Croydon.
The website for it is http://www.witchfest.net (http://www.witchfest.net)
I saw an ad for it in the Fortean Times a few issues ago. They have quite an impressive list of guest speakers and entertainment lined up. I wish I was in the UK as I'd go!
