I took pictures of these houses in my neighborhood. They are the only stone houses on the block...all the rest are newer or have been changed or built with siding or brick. They both have what appear to be pentacles, but some have been telling me it may be a masonic symbol. I have been looking everywhere for different symbols of the freemasons...but the main one I've found looks like a compass (mathematical not directional)...with an arrow under it (the shape not as in bow and arrow). I've found a few others with snakes, but nothing that even looks remotely like a pentacle or pentagram. Does anyone know about this?? here are the pics.

Those be VERY pentagramish. And they look like beutiful houses aswell.

I love the stone work they are built with.

I dont really know the history of those houses, or the history that that particular symbol (the way it is done with the inside highlighted, and one has a circle around it while the other does not) so I cant really say.

Thanks for posting....

Peace

Wow.

You brought this up a few months ago... I remember the thread. And here are the photos you said you'd try to get! Thanks! :)

I can't remember whether I said this months ago or not, but have you tried the local historical society? Or perhaps there's a librarian at your local public library who knows a lot about local history.

Another question... do you live in an area where there might be/have been a lot of Pennsylvania Dutch? From the little I've read, they were quite superstitious and magickal people... and were mostly Christian. That doesn't mean you can't be magickal, but these people in particular were quite.

I'll be interested to see what you find out about this. It's fascinating!

the historical society is a good suggestion. or the local hall of records might let you know if all the houses were built by the same builder. you might then investigate him.
hummm... the game is afoot!

Those houses do look quite old. Beautiful stonework too! I wonder if you can find out more info at City Hall or something? Maybe they can give you the age of the houses? Or have you had a chance to ask the owners themselves? I find people are usually quite knowledgable in their own houses & may know the history of it.

True; Planning and Zoning over at city hall might be able to help.

They are Pennsylvania Dutch. If I remember correctly, they are either a good luck hex sign or protective hex sign.

I want one! I'm supprised people havent tried to cover them up... The more interesting symbols you may have to 'dig' for... See what you can dig up in your local library first, check out basements if they have them cellors and the like for more evidence if it was masonic see if you cant find a local temple (or former)...

i know that some of the Tudor-style archetecture of Britain and Europe incorporated rune symbols in their exposed beams. but i haven't heard of anything like that here in America. it's not that much of a stretch though.
and i agree with everyone else, it would be really cool to own such a home!

definatley looks pentagramish to me. is there somewhere that holds something like deeds to the land maybe then you could find who built them?

Great stone work! Thanks so much for the pics, Skye!
