Why is it that when you say..."I think the sky is rather blue today"..some people must say.."No it isn't..you fool..the sky is BLUE!!!". In otherwords, they argue with you, even when you hold the same view as them!

Why do some people have to continually twist words, and take things out of context, and jump to all sorts of conclusions, before asking you for clarifications? Instead, they jump to all sorts of misinterpretations, and do not do any research before stating their opinions, do not find out the whole story, etc, etc, etc.

It is quite getting to the point, where I think I may just drop off the freaking internet, permanently!!!!!!!!!!! Since, the internet is my only social contact during the day until my husband gets home..it's the main source of these aggrivations. So...since right now, I kinda feel like I'm better company for myself than some of the people I've encountered online, I think I will just start talking to myself..oh..and my cats. Yeah..my cats' are great conversationalists. More perceptive than most humans I know. Much less prone to misinterpretations.

End Rant.
Thanks for listening.

I think one reason this happens is that a lot of people don't bother reading through the WHOLE posts or threads properly. Or that they didn't realized that they missed your points & need to re-read the posts again. I find that people seems to focus on one small thing & make a big deal out of it. I think we're all guilty of that at some point or another.

Some days, these kind of things really irritates the h*ll out of us & makes us crazy. Other days, it slides off our backs.

no it doesnt!

sorry, i just couldn't resist.
this can get frustrating, and i myself am guilty of being impatient with this medium, and posting to soon sometimes.
but it's easy to forget that we're trying to communicate fairly
one-dimensionally here. too many opportunities for misunderstanding where there is no syntax or inflection, no tonal dynamics or body language, or any number of other methods of communication we use everyday in real life, often without realizing it. the subtleties just aren't here.
but understanding that doesn't always make it easier. there are alot of people out there who don't communicate well on ANY level, and trying to connect with them can be frustrating at the best of times.
i've made the conscious decision to ignore these replies and just not suffer the fools, but that's not always as easy as it sounds (and hopefully not as elitist as it sounds either!).

Just change the thesis you're arguing about. Instead of taking the standpoint that "The Sky is Blue", take a more provocative position, like "You're an Idiot!"... it's just as true, and you can rest safely that they're not going to argue that same point right back to you!

sometimes, I admit, i dont clearly understand a post, then i post a reply and then later I read it and to my embarrasment I see how all I did was say the sky is blue, when in fact it had already been stated...

but then again I see a thread starting anew on a previously discussed topic, sometimes when i GO TO start a thread, I look in the other pages to see if one exists, you need to especially in the
practical threads, like magick , astrology, and now it seems in the just silly threads :) so yeah i am guilty too and i am sorry for annoying anyone:( heck i confuse myself sometimes:eek:

I know exactly what you mean, and what the others have said make a lot of sense. I know personally, I deal with emailed communication all day long as part of my job. The most frustrating thing I deal with is people who don't read the whole of what I've said, come back at me with rudeness and pushback, then try to cover their backside by blaming me for being unclear or some other nonsense. Luckily for me, they usually back down when I dial them up and ask them to tell me again verbally what they just said back in their email. Usually (not always) makes them back off. It's unfortunate we don't have this luxury on message boards and newsgroups, etc.

Anytime you wanna rant, you just let loose!
