Me? I can't stand it. It literally drives me crazy. Most things on the TV make me mad, or upset me intensely. I haven't watched TV in about 4 years. Well, once in a while I have no choice, like at a friends or something, but usually I will just leave when the TV comes on. Anyone else reject TV?

unfortunately, yes. I have a 3 year old, so I mainly watch cartoons.

I do watch Tv but not much - I go through the tv guide and pick out things that seem interesting and watch them. So i watch it less than an hour a day and some days not at all

I watch TV very irregularly. I work nights, so can't typically watch "prime time" shows. There are several shows that I tape to watch later, but my schedule also makes catching up on that difficult.

Yes, I watch television. There are a few shows on that make me laugh, and gods know I could always use another laugh. There are also shows on television that make me think. I love those, even when I don't agree with them. The vast majority of what passes for entertainment these days, however, I do not watch.

I watch television, but I do not watch it obsessively. It's 3:30 PM here, I have been awake since 7:30 this morning, and I haven't turned on the television yet.

Sometimes. Though when I do I have two channels that I watch....Cartoon Network and the Nicktoons network. Though sometimes if there's nothing on I flip over and watch Star Trek: TNG. Other than that not really.

Though, I have a large DVD collection, including some television shows, and I usually pop in a movie.

Yeah, tons now that I've got my TV out here, but I've got cable for the first time in my life so it's allowed.

When I am here alone during the day and the kids are in school, the T.V. stays off.
When the kids get home it stays off until late evening when they watch it.
I think I could do without it!

I watch t.v. sometimes...not always though. Most of it is just my little sisters cartoons. I hardly ever watch t.v. myself. I used to watch t.v. a lot, espeically the show Charmed..but I don't even watch that anymore.

T.V. is getting kind of old. They replay the same episodes and the same types of shows. I've just started to ignore it..

Well this is sad but true, about the only time I really watch TV is when there is a major weather system and I am trying to keep up with it. I really do not care much for TV, every once in a while I will watch a movie on TV thats about my extent unless there is a special show, usually a documentary announced.

I used to watch a lot by default. Everyone in the house watched it, so.....

Now that I'm out... I don't very much. I like Going Tribal on Disc. And South Park.... but I can't get it now... so I really don't watch much.

It's a tool... and it can be abused, or it can be helpful....

Anyone else reject TV?Pink Floyd said in one of the songs on The Wall album ("One of My Turns" I'm betting, but only 90% sure), "Fourteen channels of sh!t on the TV to choose from."

Now it's more like 40 or 50 or something. I hate TV. There are so many better things to do with one's limited time here on Earth. I do watch some tube because my wife is a tube junkie, and about the only time we ever spend together side by side in the same room (um, other than in that other room :fpartyhat ) is when I go in there to be in the presence of the tube with her. I will often flip through a woodworking tool or musical instrument catalog, read a magazine, but once in a blue moon I actually look at the thing. I think I might be more inclined still to look at the thing if I got to pick what channel it was on.

However, left to my own devices, I wouldn't have one of the useless things in the house. A very telling example of this happened a couple three years ago when my truck (tractor-trailer) broke down in a distant city. It required a major repair, and I got stuck in Motel Purgatory for four days. I didn't have any books with me, no money in my pocket, no transportation, and this place was miles from any kind of store. I went poking around in the surrounding woods, mostly (kind of nasty, trashy, junky woods.) I was getting pretty stir crazy by the end, but I never did get bored enough to flip on the tube. I'd rather stare at the walls, or go, um, play with myself. :hahugh:

I do watch TV. Not as much as I use to (because I had too much time on my hands) but lately i've not been watching a whole lot...but that's possibly due to the many shows that I watch being on hiatus. I don't think TV is as "Evil" as some may think it is. It can be quite educational IMO.

I reject television! :) Glad to see there's someone else like me! I mean... there's a couple shows I'd *like* to watch, but not enough to either pay for cable or troop to someone else's house to watch. It's just not that important to me. I do watch movies, though never alone at home... Time waster. I watch anime I download from the net... it defies my "time wasting" principles for reasons I don't understand. :) But television? Guh. Shoot me, please.

My mom and most of my family/friends love television, or at least, like to have it on as background noise. Some say it helps them relax. Background noise in the form of television gives me a headache. And it never helps me relax. It agitates me. *lol* I'd probably have television, though, if I could pay for it just by the channel - say, if I wanted the History Channel or something, I could just pay $3 or $5 a month, and just get that. For the shows I would like to see on occassion. But it'd probably go to waste, too. When I did pay for television, I just never watched it. *shrug*

Seems to me I've got better things to do.

Yes I watch about 1-3 hours of tv a week.

The kids hog the tv most of the time...I don't mind.

I like watching Mind of Mencia on comedy central...
he is so politically incorrect and calls em as he sees em.
Or comedy on BET lol...I am a comedy junkie... tee hee
I also like to watch some shows on the discovery channel...
like the Bible code thing on tonight...which reminds me....
Gotta go!

Yes, but mostly in the evenings so I can watch CSI, L&O, etc. I also watch the news at noon, but otherwise I don't bother with it.

I watch T.V. usually in the evenings with my boyfriend. We both inadvertantly mute all the commercials, but we probably watch about 3 hours of T.V. a night. Usually we keep it within these channels though: Comedy Central, The Food Network, National Geographic, History, Travel and Spike.

It has been almost 3 years with no tv, but now that we have it again, I forget that we have it and do not watch much at all except the occasional movie and anime.

I dislike TV for the most part. I do enjoy watching Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis, and sometimes I watch CMT so I can see my favorite country singer. ;)

Two of my favourite shows. I watch tv. Being disabled and not working has got me watching it more than I used to. At night I have to listen to music in order to sleep.

I reject TV too. We have one, because it was steve's before he moved in. It actually got plugged in because his mother came for a visit and needed to watch the footy.
I'm hopeing it breaks down before i have children. They will be strongly encoraged not to watch television (tho i wont actually stop them).
I have a theory that TV might erode brain cells. But i have no proof yet....

TV's fine, just so long as you read and do other stuff. If all of your entertainment and information come from television, then you are lacking.

I like TV. Ever since the internet and the reality TV boom I've really cut back but I still watch a few shows, mostly re-runs of sitcoms.

I do watch TV, not so much as I used to. I'm come to only watch TV when there's stuff on I want to watch, mostly. And that isn't much these days. I don't plan my life around TV. I think I spend more time on my computer than I do watching TV. Monday I'm glued to SBS, Tuesday there's not really anything on, Wednesday, it's ABC time cos that's where all the good shows are, Thursday, really only Catalyst on the ABC, Friday, occasionally there's something to watch, otherwise it's the Glasshouse at 11:20 before rage at 12 -ish. Weekends don't offer much viewing either, possibly an occasional movie, oh and Criminal Intent on Sundays, which I don't catch as often as I want to. I think that's one of the very few shows I actually watch on commercial TV. The ABC and SBS aren't commercial. OK, so SBS has ads, but they don't break up TV shows to make it happen. Show program in full, then have ads at the end in amongst other SBS promos. I love SBS. It's Australia's 'ethnic broadcaster' -- all the weird strange foreign stuff appears on SBS, stuff the other networks won't touch. Like South Park, Mythbusters (which ch. 7 tries to steal from them), Queer As Folk, and Oz. And some of the most interesting documentaries I've ever seen. Yay for SBS. And they get the best foreign movies ever. I swear. I love SBS.

In case you've got no idea what I'm talking about (http://www20.sbs.com.au/sbs_front/index.html)

And, yeah I got a bit carried away there. Ah well. I love my SBS. More Australians should watch SBS. (that's not directed at anyone here, just at aussies in general)

there hasn't been anything worth watching on TV since reality TV was invented. Whoever that person was who thought up that idea - boy, does he have some karma coming to him.

I can't watch sitcoms. I don't find them funny. The situations are artificial and forced, and the humor typically requires emotional damage on the part of one of the participants.

That's not funny.

Pseudoreality shows rely on the entertainment value of people who pretend to be friends being mean to each other. I don't need any more of that in my life than I have already had, and I certainly don't see that as "entertainment."

Which leaves me with Law and Order, CSI, and reruns of Star Trek (TOS).

QUOTE]

Exactly my problem with them ... take a bunch of people, however irritating they may be, and encourage them to be as mean and manipulative as they can to each other in pursuit of some mediocre cash prize, encourage them to form relationships, which they may honestly believe to be genuine, while all the time they're all conniving behind each other's backs ... pure manipulation. Nasty.
