My Mom

A few weeks ago my Mom was sick with a cold/Pneumonia and they did a chest xray and apparently saw a "spot" and wanted to repeat the xray after she was well. So she is well, they repeated it and the "spot" is still there so now they want her to have a high resolution CT scan of the lungs to determine what the spot is.

Sorry for the vagueness but that is how she is sharing it with me. This could be because that is how they are being with her or it could just be how she is choosing to be with me..not sure. Either way same nothing and same waiting game. She has to schedule the scan then we have to wait the two to three days for them to read the damn thing. God I freaking hate this system!

Yeah so this is killing me and we could really use all the positive energy you can spare about now. She lost both her siblings within the last two years. She is being very nonchalant about it but I know she is worried because she is trying very hard to quit smoking. Energy toward that goal is appreciated as well. Strength. Thanks. I mean that.

About her wish to quit smoking. There are many methods and programs you could encourage her to try. Just taking that positive action in itself may give her a better sense of self control and a more positive attitude to her health.

As always thanks for the wishes and energy my friends. My mom has no insurance so the test will cost her $1840, half of which is due before the test can be scheduled. So she has to come up with a lot of cash to hear some potentially bad news. She hasn't been with her job long enough to qualify for their insurance and she is going to go Thursday and speak with someone at DHS and try to get assistance but the whole thing is just very disheartening.

She said she doesn't particularly want to know what it is anyway. She has cut down drastically on her smoking, cleaned her house completely of all ashtrays etc and only smoking outside and she has set a stop goal. I am glad about that but still very concerned and just very angry and really have no idea where to direct those feelings.

Unfortunately coming from this line of work, they can't really tell her anything until after they do the CT, even then they might not know for sure and might have to do a biopsy or something. The last news was that she hadn't had time to check into anything else yet because she was so busy with work. She is very positive and just not letting it bother her. She is going to go to DHS and fill out some paperwork on her next day off, but she is really more of the "don't tell me bad news because I don't want to hear it" mind set just now and I don't have the energy to argue her point.

So we are just keeping the positive thoughts and redirecting some of the anger in a more positive/healing direction, thanks to some help from my dear friend Czech. I appreciate all your continued support.
