Deity Phonebook

I have wondered about this for some time, after reading in a book (i think a silver ravenwolf one) that you couldnt just look up a deity to suit your need like in a phonebook its been on my mind. If you picked a dark goddess as your matron, or decided to work with her, then when casting a love spell do u try and find the "loving" qualities in your current goddess and call upon her to help you anyway? I dont see the problem, if you want to stay within pantheons..to call upon say aprhodite for love, and then hecate for change during different spells/sittings/ If it IS wrong, then how do you use one goddess for the whole array of different spells? If anyone could give me their advice or how they "work the system" please let me know!

Having a matron doesn't mean you can't look to other deities for help (not saying you were saying that anyway). So yeah Hekate is my matron but I have no problem asking Aphrodite for help with love or Athena for wisdom or anything else.
