View Full Version : Should I finish this ritual?

Alright here's my problem, I was doing a ritual last night to end an addiction, to break my chains to it. I wrote down what I wanted the out come to be on a piece of paper, then I asked, in writing and aloud, the goddess and any spirits attracted by the dark ink ( I always write rituals and spells in black ink to attract energy) to assist me in the transition from one state to the next. Then I meditated holding the paper between my palms, sent all the energy of the addiction into the paper holding my intent, again asked the goddess to help with my transition, and covered the paper in saliva, ( don't actually know why I did this, felt right at the time) and placed it in a Ziploc bag full of salt. Finally I placed it under my pillow, and kept it away from sunlight (don't want the addiction out in the open).

When I woke up my first thought was, Oh, gods! I didn't say what type of spirit! Now tonight I have to finish the ritual with a burning of the parchment, soak the ash, throw it to the winds, and allow the Earth mother to take it and keep it. As it’s new moon I begin a new part of my life in conjunction with the new moon, so waiting is out of the question.

My question is this, do I want to finish this ritual and owe something equivalent to this to a spirit that's not, shall we say kind? So I need advice, and quick, my window of opportunity is closing fast, and if the debt is already owed then what can I do to repay it? I certainly don't want to be bound to a new master having disposed of my last one so recently.

Oh and forgive the grammar, I'm a bit rushed...

Thank you,
Amelseru_halqu,

You could just do it again and say All spirits that are atrracted by the dark ink who truely wish to help me.

I would finish it, but clarify somehow before throwing it to the winds?

I don't mind waiting another cycle but if they have already invested energy into the ritual the debt is still owed, I could return the energy I suppose, but that's not something I'm especially skilled at, actually have no clue how to do that... I would also have to take back the addiction's energy, and ask the goddess to take her's back as well. Also there is the matter of destroying the parchment without finishing the ritual...

I agree with this....

A ritual once started should be completed typicaly, (in my opinion)
especially if you are workign with Dieties, I dont think it is nice to leave them hanging lol

Thank you so much everyone. I will thank all the entities who assisted me, and during the destruction of the writing, will ask all the spirits assisting only to have me indebted to them to take back their energy as it is released through the fires. That should work, next time I won't make this mistake. Oh and if anyone can figure out the spit thing, be sure to enlighten me.

I'd agree with clarification when you finish it. As to the spit thing - sometimes when an agreement (eg business etc) people have been known to spit on their hand and slap them together with the person they're making the agreement with. Also, spit is part of yourself.

The saliva is a bodily fluid. Those are ... contractual binders. You sayin you're serious about it.

A Rom Shu'vhani will spit on the ground three times to seal something.

I would finish the ritual, and yes be sure to thank them. The spit thing is odd, because I have used spit in a number of my rituals and I dont know why I do it at the time either! I read your post and like...flipped outta my chair! I have no clue why I used spit either! I also, have had a past problem with drug addiction - and used the craft to climb out of that dark pit (you know where I am talking about)! I pray that your ritual works for you- it sounds like you really know where you stand. Blessings! Feel free to PM me sometime!

Well, I finished the ritual with the clarifications so no more worries there. After I finished the ritual I felt like there was peace now, I could leave that part of my life behind me. So now I just walk away, even though it won't be easy, it's something I must do and am now able to do. So thanks to everyone who made it possible for me to start the next part of my life and to learn what I had to from the last one.
