E-MAIL A MILITARY HERO IN AFGHANISTAN!

The Navy has set up a form for you to email a Holiday
message of support to soldiers in any branch of service you
wish -- these messages will be read aloud to groups in the
barracks, or they'll be printed and passed out to random
heroes. Make it good -- they work for you.http://anyservicemember.Navy.mil/MessageSend.html

That's great...thanks for posting it! It's another simple way for us to show out support! I have already sent off my letter and I have fowarded a link to everyone in my address book.

I love this idea.

I'm Canadian, but the brave troops need all the support they can get.

Kudos for sticking this thread, it's very important.

this is such a wonderful idea. Here's the letter I wrote:

Hello! ^_^ happy holidays, my friend!

Just to start this off. . . I know you've probably heard this from a lot of people (I hope you have!), but we're all proud of you. I'm very proud of you. I think it's wonderful, what you're doing to protect everyone. You are special, you are incredible. Thank you. ^_^ and Happy Holidays!! hehe I would wish you a Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah or Happy Yule. . . but I don't know what religion you are. So I hope your holidays are nice! May you have lots of friends and family to spend it with, or talk to. And just in case you don't get to see your family. . . here's a great big **HUG** from me. You can imagine the smell of yummie holiday foods baking, mm cinnimon-y and bread-y and turkey-y. . . hehe. Here, a feast in your imagination to share! Please, take care my friend. Happy Holidays, and thank you. Thank you. ~Beth

Sorry I know this is off topic...but I can't help myself!

I understand your right to express your opinion...but did you ever think about what would happen if the military did not exsist...would the average person be able to whipe out terrorists??!! Or are you insinuating that the military are the only cause for violence in the world??!!

I think this is a very good idea. Everyone over there fighting for our right to do what we are doing right now and all of the freedoms we share deserves the respect and love from everyone in the free world. :D

I dont agree with what bin laden is doing but i dont think america and britain are great either - they have to take some blame for the war. I dont like the way bin laden and crew immediately get labeled terrorists while uk and usa are make out to be so innocent. were not. No-one here asks why bin laden attacked usa(here anyway, i dont know if they do elsewhere), most just say he did it he should be punished. From what i understand america was attacked because after world war 2 america and uk gave away land that didn't belong to them - palistinian land and there has been fighting sinse over who this land belongs too. I have thought about what would happen if the military did not exist - i dont think there would be any order throughout the world but if more people believed in equality and did not have the belief that we are more important that other countries e.g. afghanistan, they wouyld have no need to attack us to get some respect. I do not think the average person would be able to wipe out terrorism - because different people view terrorism differently. Some people i know would view george bush as a terrorist - he causes terror in a different way to bin laden but a lot of 'green' environmental people are not happy with the way he acts so therefore he causes terror amoung them. i dont think the military are the only cause of violence in the world - i think the heirarchichal structure is to blame mainly - saying that some people are more important that others is bound to brinbg fury to those at the bottom. I also think the media is to blame a lot, all i see on the news is one person dies of anthrax today - the story goes on for say 10 mins then right at the end of the news afghanistan has been bombed again and there is no mention on how many have died other that maybe an afgan saying for less than a minute my village was bombed today and my whole family is dead. Why should one american that died take up most of the news when a whole village has been smashed up take less that a minute. If there was less bias in the media i think a lot of people would view the war very differently. To conclude, i dont think bin laden is a good man but i think the war should be reported differently.

This thread was posted to show support for our troops! You don't have to support them, it's your personal right not too. For me, supporting them is not the same as supporting your government...for me I am supporting the fathers, sons, brothers, mothers, daughters, sisters and friends that are serving thier country! I also have a personal stake in this being that a good friend of mine and my brother in law have both been activated They leave behind families to fight for our freedom!! I personally feel the need to support and respect them!! If you really want to discuss your views on the war and US or British government policies perhaps you should check out the political pagan forum...there are some pretty intense discussions going on over there. Like I said before you are entitled to your opinion but discussing these other issues in this thread is off topic.

Right on laiste!! I agree with you 100%
If we didn't go over there and stop him, how do we know he would stop? I don't think he would, because he would be winning other wise. without a military, all terrists would be able to gon on hurting innocent victims, not only usa, but other country's as well. They are targeting all the places bin laden had/has camps. And anyone still there would most likely get hurt. I do feel sorry for the ppl overthere ,that had nothing to do with bin laden, but in order to stop him, they have to do what they have to do.
I wrote them a letter, because like laiste, I too have family that is in the air force/navy/army, and right now they haven't been sent, but we all are prepared incase they are sent.

I lived in philly for awhile, and when it all happened, it really hurt, i may not be from pa, but It was very emotional for me, and it helps to know that we have the military to protest us and help us feel safe again.

blessed be!

As ex-Navy personnel I have a somewhat different viewpoint on Jasmine's post.

I believe wholeheartedly that EVERYONE has a right to their opinion and I am not "jumping on" Jasmine for her post.

The Navy and I did not get off on the right foot (not even the right planet!! :) ) and "we" did not always see eye to eye on things (not even close). Yet I respect each of my shipmates who are out there, fighting for OUR freedom. Military life is not an easy choice to make, it requires a great deal of sacrifice (which I wasn't willing to make, much to my detriment). If my circumstances were different I would prolly head back to the military.

In case most of you didn't know, there happen to be ALOT of pagans in the military that are fighting for our freedom and they deserve ALOT of credit and support because it is not easy being "different" in so regulated a "lifestyle".

I don't always agree with our government and its policies and procedures but I do care ALOT about the PEOPLE in her military, because quite a few of them are friends of mine.

I understand that we all have different opinions concerning retaliation and our governments response...however, the post was created to allow those of us who do support our troops and our military to show them how much we support them through these times. I didnt require negativity. If one does not wish to support our troops that is their choice but should have been left as such. Not posted to create controversy.

another great site to show our support! www.adoptasoldier.com

MM All,
I just wanted to say that I think it's a great idea to support the troops. My husband is in the Armed Forces and was sent out to Afhanistan on new year's eve. Every bit of support helps in this situation. Army life isn't easy, and even though I married into it, and don't always agree with war, it is sadly a necessary part of modern life.
Anyway, just wanted to say GREAT IDEA,
Bright Blessings,
Blue

Welcome and Merry Meet Blue1!:sunny: I feel for you with your husband having to go to war! Brightest blessings to you and your family! May he return home soon, safe and sound! Although my husband is not in the service my friend is in the Marines and is due to go overseas in two weeks and my brother in law, who is in the ARMY has been gone for two months now.
