View Full Version : Um, A question...

Hey everyone :)

I thought I would ask this question here because well you all know more about these things than I do. I don't consider myself an empath and never really had any signs that I was, but today I noticed something...

Today my cat Mulder had to go to the vet for the first time in 6 years. He's been for his fixing as a kitten, but never any other time after because he has been healthy. Well we noticed he has dental problems (85% of cats and dogs do, so not a big deal) and scheduled an appointment. I deciced to go with my father with him and on the way it seemed like I was picking up on his nervousness. (in another post here I mentioned now I can sense things with Mulder and Abyss, like a psychic link, this post: HERE (http://www.mysticwicks.com/showpost.php?p=2131508&postcount=9)).
The whole way he was meowing and crying and I kept getting more nervous (and I don't know why...it's just a check-up). Then when we got to the vet and had to wait (there were screaming kids and uncontrolable dogs there too :geez: ...people gotta learn to be respectful, but whatever  ). I was sitting there and my cheeks kept getting hot and I felt weird. Mulder was stiff as a board, tramautized. He got his check-up and suprisingly didn't bite (he's a biter!). But after we had to go to the store. We were driving and I just felt tired. Really tired. And before I was wide awake. It was weird. (oh and he has to go back for a teeth cleaning :(...poor Mulder)
Now, I have always been more intuned with animals, mostly cats...and more specifically my cats (as I have a bond with them).
Was this some form of empathy? You'll have to forgive me...cause I don't know anything about it: only that you can sense/feel emotions.
 oh and now I have a mild headache as well as being tired. And I don't think I am getting sick either. ::sigh::

You are close with your cat and you love your cat. So of course you're going to be in distress if your cat is traumatized! It's definitely empathy. Some people are more in tune with animals than others. But this is your pal! And if your pal is sick.....then it's going to be emotionally exhausting no matter how many hours you've had to rest!

I hope your cat is feeling better!

Thanks for replying :)
so it is empathy (in a 'psychic' sense)?
Could I have (mild) animal empathy then?
::sigh:: I still feeling really tired. :foh: and weird.
And I would drink coffee :caffeine: , but I might be allergic. Ugh.

Well of course. I mean we all have empathy. Some of us have more than others. You seem to have found a kindred spirit in your cat. Maybe Mulder is your familiar. :)

Yes I agree. Everyone has a bit of empathy. I think it is just how we were made. Seems you have a talent for animals. A very good thing. Prehaps you are destined to become a vet or animal nurse. And yes Mulder could be your familiar. I love my two cats. Randell I raised from a kitten and he and I talk to each other all the time. He is my familiar. Cookie was my DILs cat and now lives with me. We are just beginning to feel each other. She feels me in my sleep and knows like Randell when I have had a nightmare.

Humm, well I considered Abyss my Familar. But Abyss's brother Mulder is my cat and I begged my parents to keep two of Fitty's kittens (Fitty, their mother and our other cat. There is also K2, the Auntie). I knew Mulder was special and different. :)
Even though Mulder and I don't always get along we are very close. And we play and he sleeps in my bed and stuff like that. I like to think I am a cat at times, lol. Ah, I am obsessed with them (felines).
I guess it is possible for both Abyss and Mulder to be my Familars.
I mentioned here, about Abyss: http://www.mysticwicks.com/showpost.php?p=2093504&postcount=2
It would also make sense for Mulder.
Fitty and K2 are more...distant than those two.

I actually want to work at a animal shelter, cause I love animals so much (if anyone remembers the Hurrican animal debates, you'd know).

Oh there are funny pics of Mulder in his clothes in my album :) :abanana:

yes it is a form a empathy. The closer you are to a living being the more empathic you are to them. You see, hear, smell, feel changes. The closer they are to you, the more you can sense the differences in their reactions, behavior, eating habits, play habits etc.

My personal opinion is that the majority of living beings are empathic to some degree. Much depends on how much they are willing trust and hone their "instincts".

Open yourself and feel the world around you. Mulder is adoreable. I love cats when they are asleep. They look so contented and peaceful. My two are here with me and sleeping near my deask right now.

Thanks :). Mulder also has a journal in his POV linked in my sig. It's funny :).
I love cats. The first thing I saw besides the DRs and parents was a Ms. Kitty stuffed animal when I was born. She was my first toy too. And we had cats all though out my life (all rescues, until now with Fitty getting knocked up and us keeping Mulder and Abyss). I never not had cats in my life. I feel so close to them and I even wish I was one, heh. If I got reincarnated as a cat (any--domestic or wild as I am obsessed with all of them) I'd be pretty happy, lol.
Oh, I gotta get pics of it, but my whole wall (length-wise) is covered in cat pictures. The whole wall. Heh. Yeah. :uhhuhuh: My Dad was like wow, you look like a stalker! (he was kidding though). It's cool looking.
Anyway, I guess my deep love of cats explains why I have more of a psychic link with them. :p
I am feeling better today...and so is Mulder. I just hope things go well later when he needs his teeth cleaning (they have to put them to sleep to do it....another first for him!).

Remember when you bring him home from the vet, to place him ina quiet dark place and he will wake up more focused than if he has a quickie awakening. Energies for Mulder and his teech cleaning.

Good tip, I'll do that-- put him in a quiet, darker place. Thanks :).

Everyone who has cats-- make sure you keep a watch on their teeth. Mulder just has genetics for bad teeth, but for other cats it can be prevented with brushing.
If your cat has plaque, red gums and bad breath get them to the vet. On going problems can cause tooth decay and serious health problems-- unlike with humans, problems in the teeth move to the rest of the body.
After Mulder's teeth cleaning and antibiotics and brushing everyday he will be fine. I plan on following though with that. I've seen pics of teeth that were cleaned and within 3 weeks were back to the infection.
85% of Dogs and Cats have teeth problems to some degree. If you suspect your cat (or dog) has a gingivitis problem: get help right away!
I just wanted to mention that.

Mulder was just a little disoriented by the stress from the vet's office. He should be fine. It does sounds like you have a really strong connection with your buddy Mulder. Good luck and bright blessings to you and all your furry friends.
