Reiki

Reiki is a form of energy healing. Some people may spell it rei-ki, rei-chi, ray-ki, etc. Does anyone have any good input on the subject? I used to go with my mom to her group on a regular basis, but it dispersed.

Anything. I'm thinking about using this as the subject for a philosophy assignment.
Some of the people I've met were very into ranks, symbols and doing things in a particular way, but I'm of a more informal nature and didn't soak up much of that.
Anyone's personal beliefs/ideas and reasons for agreement or disagreement would also be helpful.

I'm trying to learn Reiki.. but I don't know anyone who actually practices yet. I am just reading books and practicing on myself and my roomie's dog.... Hopefully, one day I will be able to find a real practioner to help me learn...

I have to say that I have been more and more drawn to the idea of learning. I am very in tuned with energy and would like to use it to do some healing works. At a metaphysical fair recently a lady was doing a reading for me and asked if I had started healing yet... she seemed to be under the impression I shoul have. She told me to walk around and look at all the healers and watch them but I didn't have a chance. I had put it out of my mind until recently. Been thinking a lot about it and I have never even read one word about it. Maybe it is about time. Any suggestions for where to start Mairwen??

There are tons of books out on Reiki! The only thing is, you can't just learn from a book; to actually work with Reiki energy, you have to be Attuned to it. You recieve an attunement from a Reiki Master Teacher, usually for a fee. You can look through the Reiki Web Ring. Attunements can be done in person or distantly, though some will say that attunements can't be done from a distance. I believe they can, that is how I got my attunements. I am a Reiki Master Teacher. i remember hearing that you can attune animals and even babies. i've heard stories about young children who can barely walk going right up to people, putting their hands on them and sending energy.
we've used it on several pets who've been hit by cars, and they're just fine, no vet visits. (i do *not* recommend that for anyone who doesn't have a background in some form of medicine.)
my mom even reikis her car every time she drives it so it won't quit on her. i'm not clear on whether she used reiki, but one time she used energy work to help with a jump-start! :bigredgri
anybody know any other uses/stories? ;)

Sure can! My cat was seriously injured when I found her in the dumpster. Honestly, I don't know how she was walking at that point. I sent her to live with a friend of mine, but I would go visit often; I'd hold her in my lap like a newborn and give her Reiki. When her health improved and I realized the cat had fallen in love with my and Mr, I brought her home. She will still occasionally jump in my lap and poke my arm. "Reiki, Momma! Reiki!" She loves it!

Reiki is good for kids and adults with ADHD problems ~ and is excellent for anxiety, which I have, so Mr will give me Reiki when I feel an "attack" coming on.

Now, I've sent energy to my car before, but not Reiki, particularly if I'm heading out on a road trip. Did you know you can empower your gasoline to get better mileage? I do that everytime I fill up the tank! Granted, I drive a Toyota so I get good mileage anyway ~ but I can go 100 miles on a 1/4 tank with an energy-boost, or 80 miles without. :D
