View Full Version : Really pissed off about my cable bill!

Ok, so I'm getting cable and internet services from Cox, and I was supposed to get them hooked up on a certain date in September. Simce they were doing it from the outside and I live in an apartment building, I supposedly didn't need to be there, and I would just start having those services after that day.

However, that day passed and the services still didn't work. I got a bill in the mail. I called them up about it and was told to ignore the bill since I wasn't getting service, and made an appointment for someone to come and check it out two weeks later.

Someone came at the appointed time and determined that they had hooked up the cable for the wrong apartment. They fixed the problem and everything worked fine.

So just yesterday I got a bill in the mail saying that I am being charged a late fee for not paying the last bill on time and that they are raising my monthly rates because of it. :flamer:

I really want to strangle someone right now. I can't call the office until Monday and I don't know if they're going to change it or just tell me I shouldn't have listened to the guy on the phone. If my rates get raised for not paying for service I didn't get I am going to be really pissed!

Cable companies along with phone, electric and many of the utilities can be a real pain.
I have been trying to get a hold of my cable company to cancel some of my tv service. I call, get put on hold for anywhere from 5 minutes and more, then someone comes on and ask what I want. I say I want to cancel some of my services and they say please hold...again! Then after another 5 plus minutes of elevator music, I get cut off!!

Guess they don't want a cancellation. Heck the bill has gone to high..I need Internet service but not all the tv stuff. Next time I call, I am going to say I want to change, instead of saying cancel some services..maybe then they wont hang up on me!

Being a former cable tech, let me tell you the secret.
First call and get a person on.
Act real angry!!(if not be real angry)

Make sure you tell them to 'get a supervisor on the phone before you drive down there and really make noise'.
When you get the supervisor on the phone, calmly explain the situation.
If you are somewhat nasty to the reps and polite with the supervisor, they listen.
Also make sure you get a direct number to customer service.
This way you don't have to wait long at all. :)

Thats because cox workers are all inept. They are the most condesending mamby pamby bunch of fools I've ever had to deal with. I hate them, oh how I loath them. I don't even have cable right now because I refuse to deal witht hem.

I took me 3 months to get cable turned on at my last place because they couldn't find it. It was on the corner of an intersection...wtf. Of course I was billed for those three months while their techs wandered the streets looking for my house. Not an apartment mind you, a two story house.

if they refuse to change the bill, then you can refuse to pay and go with earthlink or another provider. we are pretty happy with earthlink.

I called the company and aside from being on hold for a few minutes it was taken care of without any hassle. :)

That's a relief. I know how it can be a BIG mess real quick.

Those companies are a pain!!!!

But I am glad it's resolved for you!

I've had very few problems with Cox cable in the two years I've been with that company. I thought they would clear things up for you.
