When does one perform the dedication ceremony?

I performed my self-dedication ceremony a year and a day after I began to seriously study Paganism. That is the traditional time period I believe. But the funny thing is I wasn't in any hurry to do it. I had decided to wait until the time felt right. I didn't care how long it took before then. One day I was meditating and the first few lines of a poem came into my mind. I began writing it immediately afterwards, and the words just flowed onto the page. When I was finished writing and re-read it, I realized it was a self-dedication poem. I looked up the date, and it was a year and a day exactly! Perhaps it was my subconcious, but I firmly believe the Goddess gave me a little nudge when the time was right. My advice is to wait until you feel the time is right. When you get that overwhelming feeling of love and dedication, you'll know, and the ritual will be one of the most special in your life. Blessed Be.
