Does any one else feel connected to the animals? I was raised with/by (there is very little distinction here as they acted as family and not as pets, it was more like having an uncle than a dog) animals, all my life there was always one around. I have looked to them for guidance, I have turned to them when I was in need, I have counted on them as a part of everyday life... I in turn helped them, I felt their pain and tried to ease it, I guided them through life with humans, I freed them (on occasion when they 'asked' to play outside :D), I fought for the other animals (wild and demestoc). I felt as they were family, not just pets... But deeper than that, I felt a connection to all the animals plants and other 'silent ones'... I was quiet, I didnt speak for seven years, I was feeling out the connection. I sat beneath a tree at recess and was content just to feel it... Until I was bothered by kids who were stiping leaves and bark off the tree, I chased them away but they were persistant... I realized that they were messing with the tree to get to me so I didnt take shelter under her again.

Does any one else feel this quiet connection to the animals? And Has any one else gone through the silent thing?

I have always felt connected to animals. I remenber growing up in PA were our house back up on forest. I use to watch deer, turkey and sometime even bears in the woods. I have always loved all animal life. We never had pets when I was a kid because Mom and I were both alergic to cats and dogs. When I was young I had many dreams with snakes in them. I don't know why but, I have always felt more connected to them then any other animal. I been quiet in woods many time and just let myself become one with it, but not for as long as you have. When I began studying paganism I found I do have a snake for a spirit guide.

I have a snake for a pet now and I feel a real connection with her. My friend who uses my extra bedroom, has a cat that is vey connected to him. She even cries and meows just after he leaves for work everyday, as almost to say "don't leave me, I want play with you." Yes, I'm still alergic to cats but, I put up with her, because I could not see what my friend would be like without his cat.

I, Too, have always felt connected to animals. My father, was raised on a farm, and maintained friendships with farmers long after he left the farm, and long after his grandpa sold their farm. So..I was raised going to agricultural fairs, visiting peoples' farms, and would spend many hours in the barns, talking to the animals. I had a pet cat, and some goldfish growing up. And they were more like my friends than most of the children I went to school with. When my goldfish died, I mourned them for weeks, and the same when my cat had to be put down. Also, When My great grandpa sold his farm, my grandpa and grandma got a house, on a mountain, surrounded by woodland. Their yard, was a virtual zoo. Tons of stray cats, and animals found their way to my Grandparents house, and always got a meal. As a matter of fact, growing up, my grandmother used to give us slices of bread when we visited around sundown, and told us to wait by the door. Every evening, a family of raccoons would come waddling up the path, and scratch at the screen. We'd open the door a little bit, and hold out our bread to these gentle creatures, who would take the bread, and run away with it..right out of our hands. So..loving animals, runs in my family. We used to feed the geese, and the swans that were owned by grandmothers' neighbors. I can't remember a time, when I wasn't in contact with animals on some level. They seem to be drawn to me, too. There are very few animals who I do not get along with. We have four cats now, ourselves, and a pirahna. I also had another cat, who passed on last year. Our cats..are the most "human" like cats you'd ever meet. I swear that my littlest one speaks to me. She has tons of differen't vocal sounds, each for a differen't reason. She plays fetch like a dog, and grabs my attention, during the day, with a particular meow..then runs into the bedroom, looking over her shoulder..as if to say.."Come in the bedroom with me". The bedroom has become her "safe haven" so to speak. The other cats dont really spend much time in there, so she considers it her territory..and she knows that when i'm in there with her, she gets undevided attention. So..she often beckons me to the bedroom when she needs some extra petting, or play time. I also have this wierd thing with birds...they keep coming to me. One flew into my office, not too long ago...and almost got eaten by my cats. Sadly..he passed away, probably from shock. Another time, I was at a laundra mat, when one flew into the glass windows there. He fell to the pavement, and I went out to check on him, he allowed me to pick him up, and cradle him. And eventually, when the shock of him hitting the window wore off..he flew away, and then looped back, and sat on a rafter above my head, chirping at me.

I've ridden horses, and was somewhat of a natural at it. The horses were very responsive to me.

I never feel as euphoric as I do around animals. My life would be totally empty without the experiences with the creatures that I have had.

The animals I most connect with, in order, are Cats, Dogs, Horses, Deer, Birds, Raccoons.

I have always felt a connection to the animals and have raised many creatures of the wild if they were ill or hurt. I have always had dogs and cats as most of have, but I have also raised a couple of squirrels, rabbits, different types of birds, not to mention puppies, kittens, horses and colts. I feel closer to animals than I do people at times...when I was young, and watched movies ..you knoow the western type.. when the riders of the horses would go over a cliff , I was never worried about the men riding them, just that the horses were okay....*shrugs* maybe that was weird but I was under the age of 10 at the time, but do still find myself irl and during movies rooting for the animals. According to my husband, if I had my way, I would quit work and run a refuge for animals and have one of every kind in the world there just so I could take care of them. As for the "other silent ones" I am not sure of your meaning and would need you to expand on that before I could comment.

So, in essence, you are not alone. ;)

plants (rather noisey but most consider them to be quiet) rocks, feathers bones stones shells things that you wouldnt think about... feeling them, knowing were the bones are, what they are. Feeling feathers before you see them. Feeling the rocks and dirt of a place. Hearing the plants (nothing wierd just feeling the over all mood of the plant life). Stuff like that... Things that are quiet but alive (bearing life force if not actual life).

I've felt a connection to animals too.

I find them to be great teachers and sometimes even greater companions then humans can be.

I've always related better to animals than humans. Matter of fact I like animals better than a whole lot of humans I know.:ghost:

I feel a connection to kitties! I love them ... and dolphins to. I had the pleasure of swimming with some captive ones ... !!!never!!! swim with ones that are wild ... and they loved me to. All animalls love me .. except for some of the less inteligent dogs. But the quiet ones do. hehe. I don't feel plants tho. However, i'm very intune with the elements of Fire Air and Water ... campfires, Storms, and the Ocean are my top 3 places to be or things to be near!.
